I just moved into a house that I am allowed to decorate as I want. My walls in the kitchen as well as the cabinets are all white. So far I have 4 old style jello molds and a clock on the wall. I would like to go with old italian style. I really love the 1920's to 1950's flavor. What kinds of things could I do that wont cost much? Im thinking along the lines of stencils and that. Any ideas?

Serious replies only please.

Little painted houses on shelves or cutouts of houses on top of your doorway molding look pretty good. Old jiggsaw puzzles in frames and oil paintings also look nice on the walls and finally a strip of horizontal wallpaper from WalMart is cheap and looks great next to the ceiling when it's run around the room and helps liven up the atmosphere.

I would go to a craft store or hit the flea markets and buy some old colored glass bottles and put different styles of pasta in them, colored pastas, bowtie pasta, etc and arrange them on a shelf or window ledge.
