Say a woman gets married in the temple, and her husband gets hit by a bus on the honeymoon. So she remarries and has a bunch of mormon babies. When everybody gets to heaven and she's reunited with her temple husband, what is the status of the children from the second, non-temple marriage? Are they illegitimate? Will the temple husband be jealous?

When a couple are sealed for eternity it is an eternal commitment that is stronger than death. She can remarry for time. The children are never illegitimate. The children can be sealed to her and her first husband.

Pondering your question, which is a pretty evocative one.....If the first marriage is sealed in the temple, and they do not have any children from that union, the woman in your scenario will remain with the sealed husband in the hereafter. In as much as the second marriage was not sealed in the temple, the children are not sealed to her, so she cannot be sealed to them for time and eternity.
If the woman were sealed to this second husband in a temple marriage, the answer would be different.

I am in a somewhat similar situation...my parents were married in the temple, divorced and got a temple divorce. My father is no longer a member and my mom remarried in the temple and he has been more of a "dad" than my real father. I am "sealed" to my mom at least because she is still a member and temple-worthy. I don't know exactly what will happen after this life as far as my "dad's", I don't know if my father will ever come back to the church...but I do know that my Heavenly Father will work out whatever is best and just for all of us.
We don't have answers for every single situation, those things I know will just be worked out.

From what I understand, it would be as though everyone is family. The only problem here (as far as that religion goes) is that unless the non-temple husband is a devout Mormon and does all the other stuff required, it is not guaranteed he will go to the same kingdom (celestial) everyone else goes to. Actually, that even applies to the temple-wed people.

I've always heard that marriage isnt needed in heaven. If the woman meets her first husband up there, they'd just be friends.

The kids aren't illegitimate because the woman wasn't unfaithful to her second husband, even tho the marriage wasn't started in the temple.

In other words, all would be well.

Dependent upon the faithfulness and works of the woman in this life God will be most merciful and just in according legitimacy of those children born of a second marriage.

Here are the answers:

Everything will be worked out in heaven. The parents will choose their own spouse. The children will choose their own parents. There is no illegitimacy in heaven.

There is also no jealousy. There is a lower place for those who cannot overcome petty, sinful feelings.

God does not force His will on those who love him.

They are sealed to the first husband. In theory. Of course, we don't know what EXACTLY is going to happen, but that's the rumor.
