Would you say that it is none of your business and stay out of it...let it happen, or would you try to stop them, perhaps call the police. Would you intervine in some way? You would probably make it your business and do something to stop it. So how can people say it is noones business to try to stop someone from having an abortion. That is not just child abuse...it is child murder.

photogrl, No I do not pick and choose. Abortion is wrong no matter what. And a miscarriage is simply a death, just like if my child got sick and died. I would not be charged for involuntary manslaughter if my child died from some illness.

I guess the immediate harm of the child is the first question. Is their life in danger. If anyone's life is in danger you act . Now if it is a ongoing abusive situation I would pray on it and most likely talk to my pastor . I think that sin and abuse of all people is so common ..emotional physical ..because they have darkness and pain and they are wounded people dealing with wounded people and looking for the answers in the wrong places . But the Lord can shine a light that they can see..we can't and I think that if I were secure in my ability to diciple..not just preach but actually help another grow over a period of time I would pray for the opportunites to mentor to this family. I certainly would offer all I could to alleviate the stress and get the child to church and Sunday school. The person abusing most likely is an abused big child who needs the Lord to reparent them and so they need rebirth also. The ministry hopefully is for the whole family but obviously a child needs protection and can not do it. I would definetly have guidance with what ever I did and would not act alone :) As far as abortion. I feel that there are as many sins like that .murdering life is horrible but just as Paul was a murderer cleaned by the Lord the women are not the problem the lack of the word in their lives is the problem . You can attack the sin..good luck or you can go to the communities and mentor the young girls before they are in that position. It saves babies. ..but it saves souls. Spiritual death is the most dreadful tragedy not physical. I dont see morality ever being legislated. Why would we need the Lord if we could do that..Noone in Isreal was able to do it ..as in Judges the lawlessness is the reason the lord came so basically he left us with instructions...to go to every nation and to love and to serve and to spread the Good news..He didn't say to go judge. We hold other Christians accountable not non Christians . That is my understanding :) I hope The Lord makes my wrds make sense :).God bless ..I know the Lord will help you find the purpose for your passion. I I would be sure that I was in the Lords will not my own conviction or we come close to the Pharisees who knew the Law but did not have the heart of the Lord ..I had a single pregnancy at 19..I came from wealth and it was still the hardest thing I have ever done and I was petrified. My mother said she would love me no matter what and would help me if I need it. I drove to the clinic and ..I came home and I said..will you really help me ? That was 23 yrs ago and you know what if she had not shown love and mercy I would not have the son I have but it would not have been the same with moral judgemen..it was withour any reservation .she say my life too and loved me regardless. That is the Lords way :) She greived for my pain.

So know we found a new way to bring up an old topic that will never be solved. You have your beliefs which you are entitled too, and guess what, I'm entitled to mine.
Do you consider something without a heartbeat a living thing? I don't, so therefore a group of cells isn't a living thing at all. Even with a heartbeat, a fetus could not live outside of the womb on it's own if it was born during the first trimester, so how can you call it murder if the fetus wouldn't have lived (if born) anyway?
Are you against abortion in rape, or incest cases? Or do you just pick and choose when it's morally okay for you to decide when a woman's freedoms should be taken away or given back to her.
I am pro-life, but at the same time I feel that someone has to the right to choose what's best for them.
And if an abortion during the first trimester is murder, whats a miscarriage..involuntary manslaughter. Hmm..maybe we should put the woman's body on trial for aborting the fetus naturally.
And if I saw my neighbor abusing her child, real life breathing child, i would call the authorities. And you trying to link the two together is pretty inane.
**so you think it's better to make a woman, or even a young girl, suffer through a pregnancy that she did not want. You think it's better to make her suffer and think about being a rape victim, or a victim of incest, every day that she is pregant and has a child? That there is a form of abuse to me.

So who exactly made your soap-box.
Abortion doesn't match the technical definition of murder; the child is not yet born, has no name, and is not considered being in most places and instances a being separate and individual from the mother with their own rights and such. The fact that YOU and others BELIEVE so does not make it true.
If YOU believe that it is wrong, then it is of utmost importance to you to insure that you raise your children with the same values, and to teach such values IN YOUR OWN ASSEMBLIES. Calling others murderers does not endear them to you, nor will it sway others to believe as you; it smply hardens resolve against what is seen as a fanatic group that occasionally uses terrorist tactics to support their position (murder of doctors and bombing of clinics), along with harrassment of those considering abortion.
Believe as you will, and live as you will. Be sad if you wish, but your rights to intervene are necessarily limited. You have no way of proving that a baby, before it's born has any sort of soul; you can't believe that a soul is killed when a baby is aborted; you can't believe that Earth is a better place than some heaven. If being with your god (If you're a christian) is such a bad thing, then how is abortion such an offense to the potential child? If God is so against abortion, why are most fertilized eggs spontaneously aborted?
Just questions, but please keep opinion to yourself and not call abortion murder as they are two separate and distinct things; just as are terrorism and activism. You don't call it murder and I won't call you a terrorist.
EDIT:
I let this sit for a while before announcing my own position. Personally, I'm against abortion, and think wholeheartedly that abortion for the sake of convenience is wrong. I think abortion is justified only in the case of danger to the health or welfare of the mother, or (possibly) if there is absolute evidence of a horrible and uncorrectable birth defect which would result in a torturous existence for the child (this wouldn't include Downs or other such problems).
The point is that I DO believe that abortion is the taking of a life; however, MY BELIEFS are not those which should be legislated because they are beliefs that other REASONABLE people don't necessarily hold.
My children know my position, and hold the same. They feel that abortion is wrong, and that's how you reduce it. If you legislate it, you merely make criminals. If you teach your children, you build a country with similar morals.

Don't you love when people say that a "fetus" is not a baby. When the word "fetus" is simple the Latin word for "baby".
And apparently LabGrr has never had a miscarriage if she thinks people do not mourn them. I know how destructive the two my wife had were to her.
And if abortion is good because it reducing overpopulation, then war is better. It takes out even more people, faster, then abortion. And leaves their property and resources for their attackers to take and improve their lives. So war must be the ultimate good in an overpopulated world.
Abortion is murder....

That is ridiculous, abortion is not child murder, the foetus is not developed enough to be classed as a baby, that takes 9 months. For someone to go through with a pregnancy that is not wanted is far worse. What sort of life would that be for a child? What other alternative has a women got? Do you think that we should keep filling up already bursting orphanges with unwanted children? What do you think a rape victim who unfortunately gets pregnant should do? Should she have no choice but to keep a baby?

If it's physical abuse, I would threaten to call CPS. If the neighbor doesn't listen. I'd call CPS.
If it's sexual abuse, I would beat the neighbor with a pipe, adopt the child, and raise the child properly.

That would depend on at what point a glob of cells is a life. That has not been determined.
Abortion IS LEGAL. It is not child abuse.
A bigger crime is to bring an unwanted child into this world.
Don't feed me the put it up for adoption line. Not every child is genetically lucky enough to be desired for adoption.

I would call the police if I saw that- and I would hope that if an angry messed up person like that got pregnant they would do they right thing and have an abortion so as to not bring another person into this world to suffer.

If it is serious, take a non-flash camera and take a picture. Then, in the mail, give them a chance to stop. Type it in Times New Roman, because everyone uses that. Don't tell them who you are. Just walk up to their door and drop the letter. If it continues, send the police the photos. on the back, in newsprint, write your neighbors address. Whatever you do, DON'T WRITE YOUR NAME, ADRESS, OR E-MAIL ADDRESS!

A very poor analogy, and a cheap appeal to emotion. An embryo is not a child, and abortion is not illegal. Try calling the police because your neighbor is planning to have an abortion and see how hard they laugh.
