Every now and again this question comes up. I'm not a terribly religious person and I have many doubts, mostly in the foolishness of man.
But I'll tell you a little story. I attended church quite a lot and I was looking for answers. My son was a baby, about 5 months old. One morning I put him in an indoor swing - you know the kind of thing - suspends from the ceiling and the baby jumps around? I left him there and I went to wash the breakfast dishes. While I was there, my hands in the soapy water, something moved me around. It wasn't a voice, just something took over my body and made me walk across the room to where my son was. My arm was moved up to shoulder height and as I stood, there, the hook holding the swing snapped and the chains cascaded into my outstretched hands. I caught them, and I believe, saved my son's life in doing so.
So now I can be a liar, which is pointless, as I am not gaining by this story. Premonition - well, I prevented it from happening - or whatever it was that moved me across the room prevented it from happening. Co-incidence? No - what would make a normal person stand there their hand outstretched. My baby wasn't distressed or crying either, so I don't believe he was sending me messages.
So I do believe there is an unseen presence out there that we can't always explain away. And I think it is silly to think that all people are liars or fools, just because we don't understand.

Nothing on this earth. My faith is different from a cult because I am able to choose what I believe, and how I exercise my faith. The instructions are in the bible, but there is no one "man" who tells me what I can do. My pastor will tell me what he thinks as a religious leader but he does not make me do anything. My God gave me free will and I am expected to use it appropriately. I am encourage to study the bible for my self not just someone else's interpretation of it.
Faith is not blind. First you have faith, then you will see proof of it in answered prayers and insight. God does not want to be worshiped by robots. If he did we would not be having this discussion.

You have proposed many questions. At this point in my life and age and experience, I can truly say that there is nothing that could make me NOT believe in God. I have seen and experienced too much of His power, grace, mercy and truth. I would lie if I said my faith has never been shaken, but I thank God that he only asks that you have the faith of a mustard seed - because in the smallness of that seed, your faith can grow and that is what he hopes will grow up in us. Blind faith is the faith of a child - the way that Jesus said we must come to him - as a little child. We are babes in Christ- we believe and trust that He will honor his word and take care of us - that is submitting yourself to his work and believing it and not believing anything else . That is when satan will try to rob you of your faith and shake that faith tree and make you think there is no God when adversity comes your way - blind faith stands and says - I will stand in spite of and no matter what. Blind faith is good because it is pure and has not been tarnished. I recall the woman with the issue of blood - I know how she felt - not in the details and extent of her sickness, but I, too, know of continuous bleeding and having gone from doctor to doctor and told that I'd never have children because of the problem. Blind faith told that woman that she had done all she could do and she heard Jesus was coming - and she knew enough about the man to BELIEVE that He could do something to help her. As with me, I was child enough to believe that if I continued to believe God's word that I was healed and that motherhood was within my grips and don't waver on that truth - I would have what I asked for - my faith is unshakable in that I believe the Word of God and I also realize that when I am weak and fear start to grip me - I can say - fear get behind me. And the Holy spirit truly rushes and provides comfort - my pastor provides reassurance and word for me to recite over and over, and my church family supports and covers me in their prayers until I am strong again. Remember, it's okay to have some unbelief. Remember the scriptures where the man who wanted healing for His son believed that it would be done, but also asked Jesus to HELP HIS UNBELIEF. God recognizes that we are in this human covering and we will be weak and afraid, and shaking in our faith, he just wants us to remember that we have His love and His mercy and we don't have to fall to the side - but our strength lies in Him - not ourselves. Great questions.
P.S. Hands were laid on me and prayer with much power went up and much belief and I too, was healed of the pain and bleeding AND at the age of 33 conceived and had my first and only child. God delivered, protected and honored His promise to me because I had faith and did not waver. I still believe God!

For me, the question would have to be "what would it take to believe in god?" and the answer is the same thing it takes to know and believe in anything. Evidence!
To lose "faith" is to lose the need for it. So I think the real answer to you question is "maturity" Religion sees to it that humans caught up in it, don't ever get to mature naturally.

A cult is any belief system that does not have Jesus Christ at the center of it? In other words, every religion that doesn't believe in Jesus Christ is wrong? That is pretty narrow minded and has no logical basis - which sounds cult like to me.

For a long long time I lived in the darkness the world provided and since I gave my life to Christ my life has changed dramatically. I went from dreams of destruction to serving the Lord in a church setting.
Would I go back to the hell I lived in, never....

It cannot happen for me. If you know something to be true, you cannot deny it. I know my love of my wife and children is true. I cannot deny that either. Its not a "blind" love of my family. i just know I love them and it is unshakable. It is not blind, it is simply how I feel. It is pure knowledge.

It's not blind faith........
It's a faith that can only be fired by the Holy Spirit of God.
We know that we know......no matter what the world says.....that it is true. This is why I can never be swayed to the left or to the right by secularism.
And a cult is any belief system that does not have Jesus Christ at the center of it.....so we are not in a cult.
