Your in the army, son. They will do things in their own time.

You have what's called a pre-existing condition. That's where you declared the injury prior to enlisting, passed the physical for enlistment into the infantry and now have aggrevated the injury due to your MOS CQT's. Very difficult to get a medical discharge for this.

A physical therapist in the Army can only suggest a course of action. The Medical Evaluation Board has to "sit" and evaluate your case. Chances are it will take up to 9 months. You will be offered a flat sum of cash with no hope for VA disability since it is a pre-existing condition. I would recommend the following.

Retrain into another MOS. 92Y is a demand MOS (Supply), offers the best chance for PCS into better areas with a higher rate of promotion. Do your time as a 92Y, ETS then work the VA for your disability. You will also have a better chance at civilian jobs as a 92Y than you will in the 11 series MOS.

Take advantage of your situation to improve yourself. If your command and the docs feel you are cheesing your way out they will hang onto you until you ETS, making your permanent place of duty as the CQ Runner or Orderly Room clerk. Embarrasing. Move over to Supply. Your Platoon Sergeant and 1st Sergeant can help you make the change IF you show the desire and initiative to do so. You may not have to PCS if they have open slots in your company. Do the right thing.

I agree with Jim. Preexisting conditon that you basically swore was not a big deal to get into the Army. They aren't going to let you just change your mind now. The Army has jobs you can do that don't require you to be so physical. Looks like that is in your future. Tell your "fiance" you are "wasting your time" you are SERVING YOUR COUNTRY. Your country does need you and you will be put in another job to fulfill the needs of the Army. If you didn't want to commit to the contract you signed you should have gone to band camp or something. Sorry, you're not getting the "just quit" answer you were wanting to justify your thoughts and feelings.

The Army will decide what to do with you. Having a bad ankle doesn't prevent you from being a soldier. Lots of people in the military do not carry a rifle on the battlefield.

You can still work and the Army will see that you do. You are not in college, sir, but in the military. You don't get to pick and choose.

You just have to wait until the army gets all the medical reports on your condition, and see what they do with you. If your knees were that bad to begin with, it was very unwise of you to even consider the military. You should have guessed that it wasn't goping to be any picnic.
