Did God just not give good directions?

"Millions of people"? Come on, guys...those numbers don't add up. If it was a half million people, walking 10 wide the line would stretch for almost 70 miles......that is around half the width of the Sinai penisula!!

Hey, he was pacing himself. His buddy was carving a stone tablet to fake everybody over the other hill. Plus, they only had manna and no Gatorade.

No, God did that on purpose to punish the Israelites for their unbelief. After they were freed from Egypt, they went back to worshipping idols, and wouldn't trust the God who brought them out of Egypt in the first place. So God had them wander around the desert for one generation (40 years) until all the adults who had left Egypt were dead. They would not be allowed to enter the Holy Land until this happened. Even Moses himself was not allowed to enter the Holy Land.

He knew where he was going.God would not let him into the promised land because of sin.So Moses and others had to live out in the wilderness until death.Joshua and Caleb were the only 2 people that left Egypt and entered Canaan.

Have you considered they were not in the Sinai? They were most likely in what is now Saudi Arabia.

At the end of it all, they cross the Jordan River - from the east side.

this is one of the reasons biblical archaeologists aren't sure where exactly they went.
In the Bible it is on account of the sin of the people. no one of that generation who grumbled would enter the promised land. (Numbers 14:20-24)
