Pride becomes before fall, because a person starts believing that they are better, or more intelligent , or in some way more advanced than others. This then makes them immune to advice or console in any form, look at different countries during periods of war. On in Particular, is Germany attacking Russia during the winter, they made the same mistake as Napoleon did. The reason was, that their leaders would not listen to anyone, because they were to proud to take advice or Help. I hope this gives you some idea.

That is interesting because my coach talks about humility before honor.

Anyways "Pride comes before fall" refers to being prideful ends in defeat. A good example of this is the superbowl. You got Rex Grossman, who was succesful in his college/high school days and decided he was good enough to bomb the passes, however his pride was soon followed by his fall as he recieved countless interceptions. On the other hand, Peyton Manning kept to himself and got the job done. The result was he ended up winning the super bowl.

Hope this helps!

for a start, the actual quote is "pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall"...

well, ok, that doesn't actually help with a short story (sorry!) but my creative juices have failed, and the nit-picker same out to play instead (sorry again!)
