I have a female and she is great...always happy and running around. They are good dogs if taken care of properly and given tons of exercise and playtime as well as socialization. They do want a LOT Of ATTENTION...mine follows me around everywhere....I can't even move around in the room without her having to move with me. All she ever wants to do is play...especially with tennis balls. Mine will retrieve the ball all day long and bark if i dont throw it for her right away.
As cute as they are, they will wear you out and drive people nuts....no matter how much you love dogs.
I started taking mine to obedience school as soon as I got her and have contined through all the levels. She is almost one and I am just starting her in agility training. They are soo smart and learn quick. However, they are very persistent and stubborn...they may know how to do a lot....but will still play games with you and be disobedient. You need to have a great deal of time on your hands to care for one otherwise they can display a lot of negative behaviors.
Good luck!!! Do a lot of research before you get one!!!

I have one. She really has an attitude but she was easy as heck to housebreake. Only took 3 days. She is very smart and learns fast. She does not bark a lot. She is not like those small yappy dogs that annoy everyone plus she is really cute!
Oh yea I have an IG too and they sleep together in the same crate. She likes other dogs in general and I agree w/ the person who said they get jealous because mine gets VERY jealous if I am paying attention to my other dog and not her!

My male Jack Russel is totally great. No bad attitude at all.
They're really good dogs. Really smart, too. I know of one (also male, fyi) who will hop around on his hind legs and fall over when you point at him and say "Bang!" It's really cute.

I am not sure, but my friend had a Jack Russell Terrier and he was always happy, but always bouncy, too. He was cute and sweet, but if I had to live with everyday, I would probably go nuts. :)

i have a lil boy jrt who is 5 months old... who is also sitting in my lap right now watching what i type so i talk good about him, this is the kinda dog he is. lol i love him soooo much but the saying " takes a whole village to raise a child applies to this dog. he is 8lbs of pure personality. my love and attention has to be all his. sometimes i feel like i always have to entertain him. he loves t beoutside and go on walks. he is extremly clean. dosent bark alot. is very affectionate. but very playul too.. its a wonderful expirence just make sure u have the love and time. me and my boyfriend dedicate all our time to our lil brewster. but he is so much fun and so funny, he hides everything and loves kids... they have good snifferes tooo bc they are natural hunters which is hard when its walk time bc he sniffs and pulls although obedience school can fix that.

They can become very hyper, those little, but cute, dogs. I believe that they both have a good attitude, but maybe the males are a little more obedient.

Neither, If you want to be owned by a dog by a JRT. Seriously they're very loving, but very demanding. They tend not to get along with other breeds of dogs. They get jealous easily.
