You can buy a stronger screen that is resistant to scratching and tearing. We bought one and it works great even if the cat climbs all the way up.

To break your cats habit, put some strips of double sided tape or clear contact over the screen, they hate sticking to it. If you don't like that idea, you can squirt her everytime you see her do it with the jet stream of a water squirter bottle, or a can with pennies in it shaken, some cats don't like the sound of that, it depends on what works for your cat. Some cats a sharp no will do it, but if she tends to be on the timid side, then you will need to speak cat and say Nnoooo (sort of a yowl, think of the sound a cat on heat makes and make the no sound like that) You will quickly discover what works for you.

As has been mentioned, you can get tougher screen which is resistant to claws but it can be pricey so you can try the above first.

Maybe lay some masking or painters tape over it at kitty claw height with the sticky side pointing out? Cats don't like the stickiness on their paws. Might help deter the cat from using the screen door as a climbing tree.

What do you mean protect your cat?? Or do you want to protect the screen door?

They have screen guards that you can put on the lower 3rd of your screen. They sell them at any hardware store and they are easy to put on. That's what saved my screen from having to be replaced repeatedly.

well, try cutting a small hole in the screen, then if your cat wants out, she can go out. but if you dont want her climbing on it, well, i guess you can either remove the screen, or get her something better to climb on.
