...i had severe heart burn and no amount of medicine, rennie/remegel
could get rid of it. even if i drank water i got heart burn. it was agonising.
i'm wondering if it was the alcohol that caused this?

Ok for those of you who want to know the details. i did eat a little bit before i went out. but the drinks i had were a mixture of - vodka & red bull, champagne, malibu & coke, Kronenberg and black aftershock. I know it was punishment but the drinks were mostly free.
I've learnt from this lesson - less is more!

It probably did. Alcohol has a great deal of sugars, which are difficult for your body to process. Sometimes, depending on the type of alcohol (beer, hard liquor, wine...or mixing several), your body can have a really rough time processing it. Perhaps you were allergic to something you drank, which is why your body responded this way. Think about what you drank and if you mixed a lot of different types, I would stay away from that. Hope you feel better.

Yes most definately.
There is alot of acid in alcohol and that can be abrasive on your gut.
If you drank on an empty stomach then that is very bad.
Have a glass of milk and something to eat before you go out.
Be careful!!! You were on an alcoholic binge which doesn't do any of your organs any good.
Just think what that did to your liver.........

What is a 'little too much'? You don't say how much you drank... I can only say if you were drinking cheap white wine it will give you terrible acid...it makes me feel like it's taken the lining off my stomach.
Milk helps me...but taken before I go on a binge :-) :-)
Always try and nibble chips or something while your drinking!
Find a drink that suits you...we all know 'life's short' etc., but being out of action for two days is the pits....your losing nights you should be out enjoying!

because more work happens monday thru friday and sat and sun are weekends where ppl relax. Yes of course saturday and sunday are days in the week but those are the 2 days that people dont really have to do much. Well thats how I see it. Like Monday thru Friday, people are at school and adults are more than likely working. And the weekend comes around and thats everyones "me" time and they can do whatever and relax and what not. Does that help answer ur ? its hard trying to put it into words. lol

More than likely it was the alcohol. Depending on the type of course, it may have given you heartburn from the acids and sugars that are in most drink. However if you were drinking beer /pints you may have had too much iron or yeast. I'd strongly reccommend that you see your doctor about the painkillers and the heartburn, he/she could give you a better more medical answer!

99% sure it's from the alcohol. it may have ben what you drank. some liquors will do that to me. It's possible you have an ulcer, which was aggravated by the alcohol. that is a long tme to have heartburn, so that may be it.

Try taking a glass of milk or milk drink such as hot chocolate, Horlicks etc. It will sooth your stomach and dilute all that stomach acid.
It also helps if you drink water whilst drinking alcohol, i.e., alternate water and booze and finish off with a glass of water before going to bed.

yes, i believe it was the alcohol.. i am alcoholic ... trying to quit.. AGAIN! this is day 5 and still not feeling great , although better thank God.. but back to your question about
alcohol and heartburn.. Yes, alcohol is a severe DRYING agent, a diuretic and will dehydrate you badly... one symptom of the dehydration is heartburn because without enough water in our cells, the strong acids in stomach will
mess with you!! Drink your water! I am hardly ever
really thirsty, but force myself to hydrate... you take care.

I've suffered like this before too but have learned my lesson and now I take a pack of Rennie with me when I'm out on the pop and take them as soon as I start to feel heartburn coming on!!

It can't have been the quantity and variety of alcohol sufficient to knock out a horse that did it - it must have been the crisps you ate.
Next time go easy on the crisps and finish of with a few pints of stout. That should settle your stomach.
