you need to cut back the calories and up your workouts. diet AND exercise. figure out your resting metabolic rate. there's plenty of websites to figure that out. and try to stay below that number for your daily calorie intake. try to work out 5 days a week. at least 90 minute workouts. the old saying in weight loss is you can't spot reduce. dedicate 3 workouts a week to weights, working out major muscle groups, those which can do the most work. you continue to burn calories longer with weight workouts than with cardio. however cardio is still good for shedding off extra lbs. 2 days of the week you should dedicate to cardio. as far as diet is concerned, oatmeal is great for breakfast, and the microwavable stuff is just as good as the regular stovetop variety. also plan to eat immediately after workouts if at all possible. never eat within two hour before working out. depending how much you weight, you should be able to burn 1-2 lbs per week. so, you should be able to drop around 10-15 lbs in the before your field trip. good luck...

Well you can't spot reduce fat.

I'd recommend doing crunches and other abdominal exercises everyday to build the muscle. Along with a cardio workout to burn calories. You also need to eat healthy. You won't see any changes if you eat unhealthy foods. This means lots of water, veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean meats and all in reasonable portions. Cut out butter, mayo, dressings, etc...or substitute them with a low-cal version.

There are many resources online you can use to find out what your target heart rate is to burn maximum calories and what foods are best to eat. Do some research. Good luck!

I read somewhere that one thing men should do to help have a really flat stomach is to reduce gluten....found often in bread products. A nutrition book I have says "Pizza, pretzels, bagels, and pita breads are almost all gluten" So you may want to reduce all forms of bread, or at least those that have a high amount of gluten.
