I don't really think that there are "laws". I don't think that you will have a problem enlisting as long as your child has another legal guardian.

short answer.. they cannot. Only the Air Force Reserves and the National Guard are entertaining waivers for single parents. NO branch allows single parents to enlist in Active Duty.

keep in mind that a waiver does NOT have to be recommended or granted. You may NOT give up custoidy for the sole purpose of enlisting and you may NOT regain custody during your first term of enlistment. thats anywhere from 4-6 years by the way.

He had no different kinfolk residing to safeguard the babies jointly as on deployment so as that they permit him end his time left doing something else, yet he wasnt allowed to re-enlist. jointly as I lived in Okinawa although, I toddler sat for a single mom who became an officer interior the Marines. It labored for her and he or she looked content fabric in her occupation. If she have been deployed she knew she might might desire to offer her daughter to a kinfolk member, yet because she had a typical 9-5 there, it labored out in the mean time.

For the Navy you will need to have a waiver for each child you have and then you will have to give legal custody, not just physical custody, of your child or children to somebody else prior to signing a contract. Then you are not supposed to regain legal custody until the completion of your first enlistement.

I don't believe there is any reason a single parent cannot
enlist in the military as long as the child has a relative or
guardian it can stay with ( long term ) in the event of deployment..

I am not aware of any "laws." You should be able to provide a stable environment for your child/children when you have to deploy. There are plenty of single parents in the armed services.

I don't understand why you would want to enlist in the military and you are single parent. You need to be around for your child.

The only real rule that I'm aware of is the fact that you have to have a Family Care Plan.
