The Post Office, until recently, had the contract for issuing TV licences. However, the TV licencing authority decided to cut the commission earned by the Post Office for each transaction.

The Post Office said that this was unacceptable and negotiation on a new contract broke down. Therefore, the Post Office will not issue TV licences in the foreseeable future.

This contract was eventually given to Paypoint, which are the electronic terminals used in most shops and newsagents to pay certain bills.

I sent a cheque to SSL in Bristol, that way you are on the database instantly and no knocks on the door. Paperwork was back in under 5 working days.
