biscuits - flour and water pastry dough mixture shaped into a round shape, appx 1/2" thick and baked.
gravy - the rendered fat from beef or pork mixed with flour with a liquid consistency that can either be brown or white colored.
The two can be eaten seperately or together. Some people add a sausage patty to the biscuit or chop up the sausage in the gravy.

Down here in the southern US we have biscuits and gravy for a breakfast menu. The baked biscuits (not cakes like in Britain), are served open face with a sausage gravy (a white thick gravy consisting of ground up pork breakfast sausage). Very fattening but hey..once in a while won't hurt. Is one of my favs.

It's traditional Southern fare that's good morning, noon, or night. I like buttermilk biscuits with white sausage gravy, but I can have traditional brown gravy made from turkey or pork renderings. Homemade biscuits and gravy would be the ultimate. Delicious!

Hey, Brad!
Biscuits and gravy is a staple on the breakfast table in the south and parts of the west.
It is nothing more than regular dinner biscuits ( not dinner rolls) plus a whitish gravy generally made from pork.
Its an acquired taste.

One of the best, most filling breakfasts in the world! Traditionally, you bake some buttermilk biscuits and cut them in half, then you make a white gravy with sausage and smother the biscuits. Definitely sticks to your bones and stays with you all morning. Here's a recipe for you!
