Please people, this is only the tip of the iceberg. I have been making my OWN dog food for 7 years, after losing 2 pets to cancer. One at only 6 years of age!
The wheat gluten claim that is causing the problem is a complete lie!
They use euthanized animals in dog/cat food. The barbituates used to put them down is NOT broken down in the rendering process. So any animal that is sick that has been adminstered meds, is getting into your pet food. If a farm animal is put down, where does it go? On the deadstock truck to a rendering plant, and taken to the pet food plants!
Wonder why your pets have sore spots, itchy, overweight? Well it's the food. You are poisoning your pets.
Ground chicken, vegs, supplements, and flax is what I feed my dogs. My old sheltie is 16 and in good health. What is not fit for human consumption is put into dog food. This includes meat tainted in coal tar to keep the dumpster divers away. Read Ann Martin's Book: Food Pets Die For. You will NEVER buy dog food again!
If you love your animal, you won't buy commercial dog food.

Rice, chicken and egg? Awesome. That will work perfectly, just don't season too much and don't over cook the chicken (it will drastically decrease the nutrition in the meat.) You can add some veggies, to add in some vitamins and give the food some texture. Try not to use large pieces of chicken, chop it up, and mix the egg in well. You answered your own question. You have a good head on your shoulders, you're dog will be fine. Edit: For the raw eggs comments. Some dogs cannot have raw eggs, some dogs thrive on them. It is a matter of breed, what jobs they do, personal nutrition, and the animal himself. Without knowing my dog would do well with raw eggs, I wouldn't give them to him.

Dry kibble is no where near "homemade." Canned food will be closer; however, you can by frozen dog food. I just did a search for "dog barf diet purchase" and several companies came up that sell the food you might be looking for.

There are lots of natural and holistic dog foods on the market. I'm not sure what you'll find in your area, but you can check out the following companies: California Natural, Canidae, Innova, Evanger's, Karma, Natural Balance, Wellness, Timberwolf Organics, Wysong, Halo, to name a few.
I've used several of the Wellness and Canidae products, and my dogs love them.

don't forget that changing dog food on short notice will tear your dogs stomach up. They can get diarrhea and vomit a lot. this is something you have to do gradually. If you don't have a lot of time just make a large pot of rice for each cup of rice you put 2 cups of water. I put beef or chicken bullion's in it if you don't have that plain rice is fine my dogs never complain. you can do this and add a little bit of food as you change to another food. boil and simmer for about 20 min. Cool and then give it to them. If you make enough you can stick it in the fridge for the next few days. I have served it the next day by putting some hot water in it. takes the chill out of it don't put to much water in it tho.

Innova EVO red meat and the canned meat is like 95% pure meat. A large bag is like $60 but it is worth it!!! That is what my dogs eat and they love it.
