I am currently dating this guy who I totally adore. I have been in the dating game alot since I broke up wit ma Ex abut 4 yrs ago but I feel that this is the right guy for me no doubt. We have known each other since Nov '06 and went out on dates and stuff but we 1st hooked up in end Jan '07. After that GREAT night, he asked me to be exclusive (meaning just me and him). At the same time he keeps on saying that there are no rules. What the heck does that mean if we are already exclusive??
He says that if I do some stuff (like hook up wit other guys etc) it will make him mad. So what does the whole exclusive but no rules mean??

I agree with one of the other readers. You should ask him what that word exclusive means and if he ask you, well what do you think it means, then tell him if I knew I wouldn't be asking you, right? Sometimes they try to get your feedback first before they open up but just tell you that you don't know and that its been on your mind and you wanted to get it out in the open.

Sounds like your just a good lay. Especially since he asked you to be exclusive after that great night. Maybe he meant exclusive regarding the bedroom...that's what it sounds like. He sounds confusing with the whole "no rules" thing maybe its because he wants you to have rules but not him which is STUPID. You should ask him what that means, "no rules" and if there are indeed illogical then tell him there are rules and if he can't handle that then make him hit the road.

According to my understanding of these boys, I think he means that there are "no rules" for him and "to be exclusive" is expected only from you.Boys take all freedom to themselves and impose foolish ,strict rules on their partners and become very possessive.

Maybe he's not focused on the 'dating other people' thing. Maybe he means that he doesn't need to call 7 days a week or spend $$$ on you or other types of dating rules.

Ask him what he means. He'd know better than we would.

I'd definitely question that. He's probably trying to have some cake and eat it too....
