The Navy keeps them 6 months. Refrigerated they are fine for 1 month or more. The eggs have been washed. Be sure to check for cracks, that is how the bacteria get in to spoil the eggs. People who are cruising on boats, seal them with wax and they last longer.

The carton can last as long as one doesn't destroy it. I use to make crafts out of egg cartons.
Ooooh my bad you're referrring to the eggs in the carton. The eggs should be used @ least by the expire or sell by date located on the carton. If one should get eggs without an expire date then keep refrigerated and use within 2 weeks.

According to http://www.myfreshegg.com/facts.html#1
"Raw shell eggs should be consumed by the freshness date etched into the shell. As a general rule, most eggs are good within three to five weeks of purchase. Refrigerated hard-boiled eggs will keep for one week, and leftover yolks and whites should be used within four days."
Which sounds about right to me. If you have any doubts, crack the eggs into a smaller bowl, one at a time before adding to any recipe. That way you can throw out any bad eggs without having to throw out the entire recipe!

I've used eggs a month past the "use by" date. It's a roll of the dice as to if they'll be good or not.
They can be used in baking or cooking. Just crack them open in a different dish and check them before using.

If the eggs are fresh then they can be kept in the refrigerator for about a month.

I have used eggs after 1- 1.5 months after the "use by" or "expiry date" and they were fine.
