well, first thing that i would do is go down to a pet store and get a little baby bottle(for puppies and kittens) then get some dried goats milk or some kind of formula for kittens. make the kitty a nice bed out of a cardboard box w/ towels of something of the like, and feed it 4 or 5 times a day. be gentile with it and when you are feeding it make sure that you have a paper towel or something handy so that you can wipe its face if needed. also kittens go to the bathroom, but usually their mother cleans it up, but your the mommy now so that will be your job. also you might want to put the kitty near a heating source at night, or buy a warming lamp(some people use this for tortoises at night, its a red light bulb thats for keeping them warm at night) if the nights are cold where you live.

you need to take the kitten back to her mother, she shouldn't be separated from her until she is at least 6 weeks old and eating solid foods.

otherwise, you're going to have to hand nurse her with a milk replacement product, such as Just Born, every 3-4 hours until she gets old enough to eat on her own. You will have to feed her with an eyedropper, and sterilize it before every feeding. Be careful not to force feed as you can put milk into her lungs and cause pneumonia. If she starts choking hold her upside down until the coughing stops.

The kitten's natural mother takes care of both ends of her baby. By licking the kitten's abdomen, she stimulates the bowels and bladder and tidies up the resulting mess. A surrogate cat mom should gently rub the kitten's abdomen and bottom with a cotton ball or pad or tissues moistened with warm water. This stimulates the discharge of waste and keeps babies clean. Be careful to rub only enough to get them to expel waste materials. Keep the area clean and watch for chafing which might indicate that you are rubbing too hard or not cleaning well enough.

When you feed and clean the kittens, wash their fur all over with a barely damp towelette using short stokes as the mother would use. This cleans their fur, teaches them to clean their fur, and gives them a feeling of attention and well-being.

During their first week, kittens should be kept between 88 and 92 degrees F. For the next 2 weeks they still need temperatures of 80 degrees or so. When they reach 5 weeks or so they can tolerate a lower room temperature.

OBVIOUSLY people don't read questions very carefully!

You have your work cut out for you. The baby will probably need to be fed every 4 hours for awhile, day and night. Maybe every 2. THere's websites that can give you needed information

Take heart. THe right pet store or Wal-mart will sell tiny bottles just the right size for kitten, as well as kitten "formula"

I suggest you do some googling and find a good website

It can be done. Take care of baby!

At 2 days old, this kitten needs its mother!! Kittens need their mothers until they are several weeks old.. If the mother is truly not in the picture..then you will need to be very diligent at what you do for this kitten... The main thing is to keep it warm...kittens can not regulate their own temps until they are much older...
If possible, you should take the kitten to the vet, make sure that it is healthy and get some professional advice on raising it, because it will not be easy at this age....
Kitten.com also has alot of information on taking care of newborns that don't have their mother for one reason or another...but its going to take some work.. Good luck!!

Nick, the kitten should be with it's Mom until 10 weeks or it can grow up with aggression issues and other behavioural problems, but if that's not possible go here; http://www.fabcats.org/handrearing.html

and if you then have any further questions, come over to;

www.cat-world.com.au

you need to register but there is usually always someone there (members from all over the world and different timezones) who can help talk you through it, lots of breeders, rescue and shelter workers, even a vet pops in sometimes. They are brilliant.

Dear Nick ,you need to buy kitten formula from a pet food supplier he must be fed every 2 hours using a dropper or small babies bottle, keep to the advised amount of feed ,and don't feed him upside down because he will choke. Let him lay on his tummy and suckle from the teat ,the other alternative is finding a surrogate mother.Speak to vet they do not charge for information given on the phone. They can advise you ,good luck with your new baby.Keep him warm.

Kittens are just like babies. You need to feed them every 4 hrs or so. There is a certain kind of kitten milk you can get. Just about every pet store sells it. The cat I have his mama abandoned him when he was 1 week old. I"ve raised him since then... You will do just fine...Walmart sells this kitten milk as does most grocery stores that sell pet food... They also sell the bottles...Good luck You will be OK....

What? Are you and your friend crazy!?! That poor kitten will die. Please return it to the mother. Wait until it is about 4 weeks old before taking it away.

it should still be with it's mother till about 6 weeks of age. if mother is no longer around RIP get to vet-they can teach you and get you the proper "milk" to feed
