The standards for methamphetamine clean-up are paid by the government unless the investigating agency fails to comply with mandated protocols.

It is extremely costly due to the volitile chemicals used in the production. The manufacturors of methamphetamine have traditionally been the "kitchen cookers" who discard their by-products down the drains, in the yard, or out with the garbage.

Mexican mass production of methamphetamine through "superlabs" evolved when the United States provided better means to curb the production. Law enforcement in my area has seen less production than in the past. However, with the mass production outside the country with huge dollars being made, bribes are more effective and controls are minimal.

People don't always realize just how dangerous these labs are nor understand the serious effects of the drug on the body.

From personal experience with one lab alone, we did not have the appropriate safeguards in place to minimize our exposure. The chemical effects lasted for several months and was quite disturbing to me.

The two weblinks below are great resources for kids and adults to get CREDIBLE and RELIABLE information concerning the risks of drug use and abuse.

Best wishes!
