It started with dry skin rashes behind knees and elbows... now my whole body is rough, and feels like the skin of a basket ball. Hands are full of rash and my face is chapped. From the cracks, some yellowish liquid comes out and it crystalizes when dry.... well painful. Dermatologists just say it's Atopic eczema but...

I don't know if you have ever used this but I have eczema and use Elidel cream. Up until I started using that nothing ever helped me either. I also like Cetaphil Bar soap to wash with.

I'm not sure if you have read that protopic or elidel has been linked to cases of cancer. The manufacturers of these two products are now being sued. Just do a google search and you would find articles written about the lawsuits.
I am an eczema sufferer myself and know and understand the pain associated with this condition. In certain situations, medications are necessary for relief. But for the most part, you should attempt to rely on natural treatment methods.

I see a lot of eczema in my pediatric practice. First, a comment about the prior responses. For some children, food, environmental, and contact allergens can be a factor, but for most, no trigger can be identified. If you can identify a trigger, eliminate it and you should see improvement. The mainstay of therapy now is moisturizer three to four times daily, daily bathing with a moisturizing soap, then medications if these don't work. Topical steroids have the best track record for eczema, but if you want to avoid them there are immune modulators like Elidel. For some, oral antihistamines may help. Talk with your doctor or see a Dermatologist for options. Eczema is thought to be an allergic condition, not a virus.

There is a company called DermaTechRx who has wonderful safe products for eczema. They even offer samples so you can try before you buy. I highly recommend this company and their products.
They also have an exceptional Customer Service Staff that know a lot about eczema and their ProEcza is even safe for babies. My Dermatologist gave me a sample for my son and that is how I found the site. They have moisturizers, special soap, and creams.

I had eczema most of my life and tried every kind of cream and ointment. Nothing worked till I tried Clobatosol. I think it is actually for Psoriasis but my very bad eczema was gone in 2 days. You have to get a perscription for it but I highly reccomend. Good luck.
