Last year when i had my birthday he sent texts saying he remembered the day i was born like yesterday.... and i feel miserable coz sometimes i really miss him... but i dont' wanna upset me mam.... any of you know how that feels?

Dunno how old you are now. But here's the deal.
When parents part, they like to tell the kid 'It's not your fault.'
You know what? It also isn't your responsibility. You don't have to manage the divorce, the communication between them, any of that stuff. You're the 'kid' in this even if you're grown.
Tell your mom- "My dad is still my dad. I should be allowed to communicate with him." She should not be insulted by this- your relationship with him is seperate from your relationship with her, and neither should take from the other.
Parents tend to use the kids to spite one another but they forget that the kid is who is really getting hurt.
