The descent of the avataras from the spiritual world is not according to one's whims and fancy. No body can speculate any person to be avatara in their fertile brain and declare them to be avatara. The avataras schedule, forms, features, activities, place and everything related to the avataras are mentioned in the revealed scriptures. For instance, 5000 years back, Srimad Bhagavatam, predicted the Lord Buddha avatara. Similarly the Kalki avatara is predicted to come at the end of Kali yuga.
It is not that one can concoct something and call it is as an avatara. Also, it is interesting to note that the avatara himself doesn't call himself as an avatara. The learned scholars in the scriptures seeing the symptoms of the avatara matching with the scriptures proclaim the avatara.

Lord Krishna has promiseed to the world, in reply to a question by Arjuna doubting the emergence of cruel powers once again in the world and cause havoc to general public that he need not be concerned about such consequences because he will reincarnate again to establish dhrma in the universe.
There is also another belief that the god almighty will assume KALKI avtar and demolish all evils
We dont see more avarars these days because you are good and most of the human race is good, irrespective of the small wars, terrorism and unlaful events taking place. WAIT for the day when God will appear and then never fail to recognize him.

The truth is my friend there r no avatars...according to the true Hindu religion.....Hinduism considers the Vedas as the most power full of all scriptures....it is divine origin....even till today the exact time of the existence of Vedas r not known....And in the Vedas there r no proof of avatars.....they state that messenger's of God would come to lead people in the rite path.....not that God himself will take human forms....According to the Koran the last messenger has come 14 centuries ago and he is prophet Mohamed....Hindus should read the Vedas in the language well know to them and also revive Sanskrit.

The so called Avatars were born or created to teach morals to the people of the world. Now a stage has come where any type of AVATAR can not teach any moral or correct human beings of present day.

dear friend. what i am saying is based on my own experience with no intention of propaganda but only to answer ur question. Krishna promised then itself in the Gita that when Dharma declines n adharma rises its head, he will reincarnate to uphold dharma n protect the virtuous. Of all time now is the time where dharma has declined, n in my experience n many others; GOD has come down again as SAI BABA. but the truth of this u must discover n experience urself, don't just accept becoz others say so. then u see the truth
