Over the past 2-3 years, I have done a lot of damage to my hair. Between coloring and blow drying, they have done quite a number on my hair, and made it very dry and unmanagable. I have tried many types of shampoos, with no signifigant changes. My hair is pretty long, about halfway down my back, so brushing it tends to be a hassle as well. So far I have tried Garnier Fructis, Dove, Sunsilk, and I am now trying Pantene. If the kind I bought does not help, I am planning to get the time renewal. I would like to know, however, what you would suggest. I am not concerned about preserving the coloring in my hair, I just want to find something that will help it hold more moisture and prevent future split ends. Also, if you can recommend a type of brush that might work better for my long hair, that would be great, as I believe that is also a big part of my problem. Serious answers only please!
Thanks!

For those who recommend anything other than what I have already tried - where can I find the brand of shampoo you've suggested, and about how much does it cost? I'm not concerned about the price, but would like to know in advance, if possible. Thanks!

Ok anything you buy in a supermarket is not really going to help you.
I sugguest you go to a salon and buy a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. I recommend L'Oreal Professional Intense Repair. You will pay more but it will last as long as 2-3 bottles of the supermarket brand if used properly.
You should only by washing your hair every other day if not every 3 days unless your hair gets really oily.
When you hair is wet after the shower comb out with a wide tooth comb, start at the bottom and work you way up to the scalp. Do not use a brush.

HI,
In my opinion you can try all the shampoos in the market. None will do very much for your hair (I tried everything, because I also have had problems with my hair - very dry, very unmanageable).
Try a little "home" remedy. You will be amazed of how well it works:
Use a little olive oil, (warm), soak her hair with it, then put it into a wet warm towel and leave it like this for an hour. After that wash her hair well, rinse it with a little vinegar (made out of apples) and then rinse it with lots of water.
You will be amazed how quick and visible the results are.
You can do this 2-3 times per week.
Hope this helps. It's inexpensive and very easy to use. I know because I have used it myself with great results.

First things first. Start by getting yourself into a salon. Get a deep conditioning treatment and a good trim. Second, You need better products. The ones you are using have detergents in them and will NOT make things better. Ask a stylist to analyze your hair if you aren't sure what type (oily, dry, etc.. ) it truly is under the damage. Let them recommend some products and use the ones they recommend. Nexxus and Aveda are two of my favorites. Brush... again ask a stylist. Best wishes!

I used to have damaged hair myself until I started using the nexus brand of shampoo & conditioner. As for the brush conair flat bristle brushes are the best.

You probably need to go to the professional products for help. The best I've ever used for moisturizing is "Pureology".It is pricy, but it's awesome! You'll probably have to go online to see what salons sell it in your area. You need the shampoo, conditioner, and a deep conditioner for once a week. You might want to consider getting a good trim also.

depends on your budget. If you can afford a higher priced item them you should go for the salon exclusive 'Bonacure' range of Schwarzkopf germany.
They have specific treatment range options for specific hair issues. I simply started by using their shampoo because my hair was falling, it was called 'Activating Shampoo' and now I'm religiously all schwarzkopf.
