Is that really a good metaphor? People catch fish to gut them and eat them

Yahoo!s recommended category for this was gay and lesbian...was it the fish? or the eating?

In this culture, it is not the best metaphor. But, back in the time that Jesus said that and considering the people to whom he said it, it fit. Jesus was talking to fishermen, people that fished for an income and living, so when he said that, they could understand that they were going to have a complete life direction change.

Yes it is. For the simple fact that JESUS Changed Peter from a fisher of fish to a fisher of men to bring them into his saving grace. So he no longer fished for fish but ished for men for GOD.
