Iams is not a good food.
You can not get a 'good' pet food from any grocery store or walmart, kmart ect...

You will only get it from pet stores, feed stores or off the internet.

Some of the "good quality foods" are:
Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul
Canidae
Wellness

Just google search any of those...
One big thing to consider, none of the foods I mentioned are on the recall list.

Even 'science diet' and 'Eukanuba' was on the recall list.
They put some of the same products in their food that the cheepest foods have in them. It comes from the same food plant. (some of the 'products' in the foods that is, the actual bag of food doesnt but what they put IN IT DOES come from the same plant----yucko stuff, stuff your dog would turn his nose up at if he found it on the street ok? )

That should tell you something about the so called good foods that people think are so great. Their not.
There is ALOT of secrets about dog food that would shock you.

Do a google search on dog food nutrition and by-products...

Nothing made from those groups will be decent. Try looking at www.petfooddirect.com for real foods that will be of a higher quality such as wellness, Nature's Variety Prairie Brand, Wysong, Verus, Newman's Own.

The fact that everything recalled here was using wheat gluten (a cheap by product of the human food industry) is a clue as to the quality of the foods.

Iams (which is made by the Menu Foods company) is a not a bad food, although I prefer Nutro myself.
There was a recent recall on the Menu Foods canned foods, but there is no problem with any of the dry foods the company distributes.

Menu is a pet food manufacturer. They use different recipes for different brands, as ordered/formulated by the individual brand. Even though they manufacture over fifty brands of dog food, the fifty brands are not the same formulation, just as the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that you pack for your lunch is not the same as the pot roast that you make for your Sunday dinner, despite the fact that they both come from your kitchen.

Also, Menu Foods only manufactures pouch and canned dog food. They do not manufacture dry dog food. This is a great relief to me, as one of my dogs started refusing her dry dog food when we purchased a couple of new bags recently. We switched her to a different brand.

i will not support Iams for the simple reason that they cage up animals for testing and then cut out pieces of their muscles for testing. I think doing test like that on animals is wrong. I buy Purina for my dog and i buy Purina indoor formula for my cats.

I think that Iams is better.
