I believe that Jesus came here to show us how good we really can be as people. I think that we are ALL children of God - and that if we really use our God-given brains in just the right way - we have the capability to do the things that Jesus did. He taught us that living a peaceful, purposeful life is very important.
I'm not a Christian - or really religious (more Spiritual, actually) - but I disagree with you about the heaven thing. Religion is just some people's tool to get closer to God. (which is Love!) If you are close to God - you can experience heaven right here and right now.
And just for future reference - I think it's kind of insulting to ask a question - and then go on and on about how stupid the people are who are going to answer it. Keeping an open mind is very often the key to happiness.
Namaste!

2 Peter 3:3 ... scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

"For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19: 10
"But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Matthew 9: 13
"I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Luke 5: 32
Christ came to establish his church and to save us from our sins. Most of the reason can be summed up in perhaps the most well known verse...
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3: 16

Jesus is the way the truth and the life. He said that the only way to the father was through him. He was sent to earth to become the perfect sacrifice through which we are forgiven of our sins and by belief in him will enter into the kingdom of heaven. He was sent not only to die on the cross but to conquer death itself by rising again three days later. Happy Easter.
And get that chip off your shoulder. With that attitude it is clear that you are in no position to understand truth, universal or otherwise.

Jesus has shown the path by which we can live our lives in a manner that permits each to reunite with the Eternal Creative force that Jesus called "The Father." Using Jesus as the example we are able to fulfill in our own way the flowering of our own spirit so that we may return to God as a spiritual being that is a wiser, kinder, more loving and in all other ways a closer representation of God who made us in God's image. I believe therefore that the goal of life is to self-realize and exist within the "Mind of Christ"

The real mission of Jesus was to reconcile people with God after their sin had separated them. He accomplished this through his death and resurrection.
Do you think we could have an intelligent discussion about this, or are you going to sit there and hide behind all the insults you're hurling at me instead of discussing it?
I'm well aware that there are many Christians on Yahoo answers who feel called upon to "preach" to the rest of you and try to convert you by shoving it down your throat, but I am not one of those. I'll treat you with the respect that I hope you'll treat me with, and I'll respect your right to differ with me. I'm not interested in convincing you...I'm interested in learning why you believe what you believe.
When you're done "lmao" at me for my answer, post a question with some meat to it, and I'll do my best to answer your question.

To answer your very cynically motivated question. His mission WAS and IS to bring about a change for the ignorant persons such as yourself, to practice good morals and to teach true compassion for the earthly desired practicing individuals. In yours as in many cases ignorance is NOT BLISS. You can believe what you want. There is still hope for you!

Your question sounds like the demented rant of someone on meth or someone who is so insignificant he must spew out in a forum anonymously what no one would listen to him say out loud in words! Poor guy, I'll bet you see lots of backs of people as they are walking away from you!

To redeem us from sin we inherited from our earthly parents, Adam and Eve (Romans 5:12). He came to prove that man can live faithful to God. Also to make known God's kingdom which, in conjunction with forgiveness of sin, will bring us everlasting life.

The real mission of Jesus was to show that eventhough one has a legal father named Jospeh, and a biological father named Holyshit (whoentered Mary), one can stil get away with calling oneself the son of mister God
