A plugin (plug-in, addin, add-in, addon or add-on) is a computer program that interacts with a main (or host) application (a web browser or an email program, for example) to provide a certain, usually very specific, function on demand. In your case a DVD plug-in for Nero Player, which will enable you to play DVDs on Nero.
You have to upgrade your Nero Player to the latest version to be able to download a DVD codec/plug-in. For other great free options, you can download Windows Multimedia Player 11 and RealPlayer 10. Both of them have DVD codecs installed.. And they definitely don't come with viruses and spyware.. Sanjay mentions GOM Player, I use that to play *.flv files downloaded from YouTube and it also plays DVD..
