AVG Anti-virus has been rated by Maximum PC as one of the best free anti-virus programs out there. It does everything you need it to do and doesn't cost anything. You don't get spyware protection, but there are other programs for that.

Yes A V G is a free download anti spy ware the web site is

another one is spybot you can put on, that will knock out all the bugs like people latching onto you while you are surfing the web be carefull of some of the ones you look at on the web pages they can be traps, and trouble, stick to these two and you cant go wrong . spy bot you can run after using computer each day does not take long to run

Also Avast! is a great program. free, all you have to do is register it for free every 12 months. also has a boot time scan and will take care of viruses that expensive programs like norton and mcafee won't
