I'm 19 and my mom is 40, we live together. my dad has been away in another country for work. recently, my mom has been approaching me in a very weird way. the other day i was sitting and watching television. she came and sat beside me, then threw her arms around me , grabbed me by the chin and smooched me 5 or 6 wetly and hardly several times on the lips and asked me how i was. i was so shocked, that i took an excuse and escaped the scene. the other day, i was studying, when she suddenly came in, grabbed me by the chin again and kissed me with wide lips. I could trace the odor of her saliva on my lips. i was so embarrassed that I couldn't even do anything... why is she acting like this?

I can't answer why she's behaving like that - it's a difficult one. But from personal experience with my father (I'm a woman) I can say that whether it's embarassing or not - if you are uncomfortable then you need to say so. There is a boundary that she is crossing, and if she's feeling confused and you say nothing, then she will assume that it's ok to carry on. Best you make a stand about how you feel now before anything more uncomfortable comes up. Your relationship as parent and child is at stake.

I'm not sure why she would act like that, but the first thoughts that come to my mind make me cringe.

I would approach her and say, "Mom I need to talk to you about something you did the other day". Tell her that you love her, but her kissing makes you very uncomfortable. If she tries to downplay the kiss as "harmless", stand your ground. Tell her it *still* makes you uncomfortable and you would appreciate it if she relegated her kisses to your cheek instead of your mouth.

Other options are 1) moving out & getting your own place or 2) making yourself as scarce as possible around the house until your father returns.

Best of luck to you.

I think your mom had kissed you like that before when you're younger, but now you just feel that way because you have grown. Talk to her and tell her you are uncomfortable for the kisses she is giving you. Tell her that you are now an adult and offer your cheek when she wants to kiss you. I am sure your mom is just an affectionate mother and I think she is still babying you.

That's creepy, and disgusting. If she does it again, pull away and ask why she's doing it. As a 40 year old mom, she should know a whole lot better than to put you in a situation like this

Could be she misses your dad or maybe she was just inspired with her love for you.....I'm a mom and occasionally I will look at my girls and think about how miuch I love them and give them a big hug and kiss.....but not on the lips......with an open mouth? Anyway, why not tell her you love her affection but it makes you uncomfortable.

I am very shocked about your mom's behaviour! If you report this to your father it may also lead your family crack...so beware of your decision! Try to divert your mothers mind on what she loves or else try to join in a hostel. But when you join in a hostel your mom may try another person. So my dear friend consult a psychologist to solve this problem!

Could be any number of reasons.

Looks like you need to consider moving out on your own.

Sounds like she wants attention. I suggest you speak with your dad and ask him to return before your mom really go insane. Don't take this likely.
