How about finding a friend to go with and you can them egg each other on and get on with it? Otherwise, how about booking a session with a personal trainer - that way, as you're paying for their time, you WILL go? Good luck!

Maybe you should stop thinking about it so much!! Break your thoughts down - that is, don't think I really can't be bothered to do a workout today. Instead just think ok I am going to go to the gym, and then once there you will be motivated to work-out because you are there. Once the work out is over you will feel so much better, and eventually you will look forward to going!!
I used to do this when I found myself not feeling motivated to go for a run or to go for a swim. I would not think about the actual exercise: instead I would put my exercising clothes on - walk to the park and then once there I just thought well now I am here I may as well take a run!! And the same with swimming!!
Good Luck!!

well some motivation to me was that my signifigant other was losing interest and i stepped on the scale and only saw the numbers rising. I also became embarrassed of my body and didn't want him to even hug me. A gym was kind of not affordable for me and i didn't want strangers to see how ugly my body was. So i asked for my boyfriend to buy me a small, movable stepper and i have lost 16 lbs. I too have changed my eating habits. Motivate yourself by remembering the things that make you feel like you need to go to the gym. The mood won't come. Laziness will take over. find something that you can do while watching your favorite shows, or read a book or magazine while on the treadmill. My little stepper was only $50, but you can find less expensive things to do, or repititions of an exercise that you can do while lying on the couch. Go for a walk on a nice day, of find something to do outside when it becomes nice enough weather. I got a dog, she walks me, hehe. I guess my motivation was to lose the weight to fit into my favorite clothes again, and to make myself more attractive. Good Luck. i found tons of good stuff n Prevention magazine. It is the like a Readers' digest for people who are trying to become more healthy. Also, i have a friend who didn't want to go to the gym while it was super busy, so she gets up at 4:30 and goes. you could try it.

If you really want to get in shape, loose weight, get fit....then you will go or start a workout routine outside of the gym. But if you really don't want it....lack the will power....then you will just sit there and complain. It's all in your head...you have the control to do what you want.
Start a workout calendar and record every workout you complete. Make sure you update it daily. Weigh yourself once a month. This is how I stay motivated. I want to see something on my calendar everyday.

you got to find an activity you like.
If you enjoy walking - get out there! if you enjoy discus throwing - do it! if you bungee jump - do it! It has to be something you want to do the next day and the next. That's where your motivation comes from - the enjoyment of it.
Don't go to a gym and pound the treadmill like a zombie if that's not your thing or lift weights and hurt yourself due to poor form 'cos you couldn't be bothered - you'll end up resenting exercise and try anything to avoid it.

I know what you mean. This is what I do:
1) I have one of my siblings (or firends) to go with me
2) I have a pic. hanging up of myself when I was thinner that I have to look at before leaving my room
3) I have my cute bikini's in plain site (even though it's cold) So I remember that I HAVE to look good in order to wear them
4) I actually tell my siblings to call me fat (so I will want to go even more)
5) I tell my mom to yell at me if I come home from work w/o going to the gym first
Right now, I have only been doing cardio at the gym (spend an hour on the ellipitical) & I do my weight exercises at home w/ dumbells/free weights. I load my iPod up with techno remixes, so taht the beat will keep me moving. With only doing the cardio right now, I am only spending an hour at the gym & can do the rest at my leisure.

Bring a friend with you.
I find I'm more motivated to go when I go with my friend rather than on my own.
Also bring an mp3 player, it distracts you from the exercise and gives you something better to focus on.
Make sure you don't overdo it your first night, otherwise you will get burnt out and not want to go back.

Get a personal trainer or a buddy to go with you. If you are paying for someone, or you don't want to feel stupid next to your friend, you'll go!
Also, make working out more enjoyable. iTunes has podcasts that are completely free to put on your iPod that are meant specifically to get you reved up about working out. It has upbeat music that will keep your energy up. Try this!
Plus think about how good you are going to look soon!

If you're not motivated, forget it. You don't want to work out. Those of us who are motivated, however, will be pumping iron and getting ripped for summer. See you at the beach.

You want to look good for the ladies?
I don't know if you really don't want to go no one can make you.
You want to be healthy?
You deserve to be healthy.
You want to get the heck out of the house?
You are wasting money if you paid for the gym and are not going?
Well whatever you decide.
