I was sitting in the bed reading and my cat brought me a mouse in the bed. And the mouse wasn't dead! Needless to say I jumped straight up hollering! At the time I was mad but now I can laugh about it!

It is very common. They are "gifts" or contributions to the household. Thankfully there are no rodents in our house, or we would get those, instead we get toys, especially the "furry" ones, usually in bed, but sometimes we find them in or around the food dishes. The funniest one is a hat. There is this rabbit fur hat I had as a child. I figured I would never put real fur on a kid of mine, so I had it in a bag to go to a 2nd hand shop. Well, one of our cats found it, dragged it out and it is his favorite "toy". This is at least 1/3 his size, but we wake up with it on the bed all the time.

I hope you praise them ever time they leave you a gift. If you think of cats in the wild (lions etc) There are the hunters which catch the food for the pride and bring it back to the leader to share out. Guess what....you're the leader. You now need to share the catch. A little food reward is all that's needed to make them feel they've made you happy.

That is so great! You are very lucky to have your little darling truly see you as mom. Whenever you find these "gifts", praise her for them. And then be very greatful that she is an indoor cat vs. an outdoor cat or your "gift" could be something that was once alive. Make sure to leave plenty of things like fake mice and that around to encourage such gift giving.

I get this all the time from my 2 kittens. The older one tends to do it more than the younger one. When I get home from work my older one will greet me at the door and drop a toy mouse at my feet and run away. I guess it's his way of saying "Mommy since your home it's time to play". He drops things at me feet all the time too. He will be playing with something drop it at my feet and I toss it across the room. He will go and pick it up and drop it at my feet again. I think it so cute that he does this.

Yes, everyday our male cat brings me his socks.
He has a pair of old socks that are rolled up in a ball, he plays with them all the time.
He "Hunts" and "Kills" the socks at least ten times a day and then brings them to me to show me his "Kill"!!

Oh yes my cats love to give gifts, luckily it hasn't been a dead rodent ,
Last week my Mom and Dad's cat left a dead mouse in my dad's work boot.... haha But my dad wore the boot for a while before realizing there was a dead, very ripe smelling rodent in his boot. LOL Good times!

Yes my cat Gracie would bring me rabbit. It was a tiny stuffed animal for cats. She truly loved rabbit, she would sleep with rabbit. When she died at 16 &1/2 years of age I had her burried with rabbit. My cat mia has brought me a ring off of the milk jug. That is her favorite toy.

No, but one of mine will put a smelly sock or pair of unders on top of the food dish when she is through with it. I imagine that must make it real nice for my other kids, LOL. Also, she puts her fur mouse in her food when she is through playing with it.

not like that! how cute!
all three of my cats start purring as soon as i get home from work. one of my cats greets me at the door with a wadded up ball of paper, ready to play catch! she'll follow me around until i sit down & drop it at my feet & meow until i throw it for her! while another one constantly tries to get me to pick him up. the third 'acts' nonchalant (except the purring gives him away) until i'm sitting for about one minute, then he's gotta have some attention.
