Absolutely not.
What gives us the right to dictate what someone wears, thinks, feels, paints, dreams, what one eats, who one sees,
what one does, how many children allowed.

What next ? Where did the land of the free go??

Sounds like the decrees of dictatorships and Communistic demands.

Certainly not for a rational, free loving, free enterprising country to impose.

At Customs, or in Policing situations, would be the only time in which I would have to agree, that unfortunately, we MUST see someones face in order to recognize Wanted felons and criminals.

When and if this ever comes to pass, I can assure you I will be a very light skinned, tall, blond North American woman, wearing a veil, in solidarity and in protest!

I'm ashamed that human beings can rationalize and try to legitimate this kind of thought process.

Hatred and fear comes from ignorance.

Then again, being human is not what this sort of question is proposing.

George Orwell's 1984.

who ever brought that into a custom anyway? Did the women have really ugly features that needed to be covered up all the time? It seems to me to be a silly thing to do to cover up. Especially when in school as if teacher asks a question to this veiled student the sound of the voice would be muffled, it would be like if we all put pillow cases on our heads all the time!! totally silly! so Yes there should be a ban on overhead veils in any public place. It's like the reporter who refused to take an interview from a person because they wanted to keep their full head veil on. How could you tell if the person is telling the truth if the face is practically all covered?
Ban Yes I think so.

Yes.
common sense prevails at last.
banning the veil may prevent more discrimination.
& any woman forced 2 wear these hideous gowns, will hopefully thank us 1 day.

Absolutely, not only in school, it should be banned everywhere.

It's impolite to others (if they expect others to accomodate them, how come they do not accomodate others' feelings?).

Who is to tell the identity of whom under the veil?

I cant see why not, they ban earrings so why not something that covers the face.
It should be up to the schools and not the choice of school children

Well seeing as this is in the Painting section, I supose it's easier to paint people if you don't have to bother with facial features other than the eyes

it's not like anybody would want to wear a veil in school. it's common sense, if they want to wear it, they should be allowed to.
no body will want to anyway - especially not in class rooms.
