I have bought a property in Side and had no problems with the purchase or legal sytem everything is straight forward. In general the properties are well built and offer a very good standard, furnishings and electrical goods are of a very high quality and reasonably priced. The running cost are amazingly low compaired to the UK.

The people are very freindly and the cost of living is cheap without compromising on quality.

Just remember to research your building agent or preferably ask around and see if anyone can recommend a company.

Turkey is a good place to invest in property, its also a good place to invest cash in the banks, the interest rate is about 17% at the minute but it varies between banks, if you have a lot of cash you can negotiate with the bank for more interest, i know people that get 20%. Many people come here on holiday just to bring there savings to invest in the bank.
As for property it can be a minefield, there are good & bad deals so go very careful. I moved here from the uk many years ago & i have worked in the real estate trade a long time so i have just about every thing. Please get e mail me if you want any info, im more than pleased to help you. The official figure for British people living in Turkey is 34,000 so it cant be that bad here. Also if you retire here the cost of living is very cheap. The average wage is running about £25 a week so pensions go a lot further.

Turkey is a good place to invest. Property is still very cheap by European standards. A lot of Brits are living on the Med coast of Turkey. Lovely weather, very friendly people when you get to know them, and fresh food at the lowest prices. Just to give an example, right now a kilo (2.2lbs) of green house tomatoes is less than a UK pound. Soon veg. and fruit prices will fall to ridiculous levels. Life is slow and easy, esp. in the small towns (not talking about places like Istanbul). As a Turkish Cypriot I should say, come and invest in North Cyprus, but Turkey is much cheaper. There are very good and reliable banks like IS Bank, Garanti, Akbank, HSBC, Fortis etc. Just do a good research before you go there, and you will not regret it.

I started visiting Turkey in 1984 and decided it was the place I wanted to live on that first visit.Moved here 4 years ago and dont regret it in the least.Be careful if investing money there are plenty of sharks about.Dont rush in.Turkey has a good relationship with the UK.The Turkish army is very strong and is encouraged by support from USA and UK .The economy is growing fast and a large number of British firms are either in partnership or buying Turkish companys - HSBC,B&Q,Brit.Telecom,Shell UK,Cadburys to name a few.The chances of Turkey getting in the EU are slim and not fesible for at least 10-15 years though the UK are pushing for them in Brussels.I think it is great to be free from the idiots in Brussels.Try a site called Turkish Living.

the relationship is pretty good but there have been some issues with regard to turkey and human rights ie Kurds etc .
Turkey appears to be cheap for property and a good investment as there is the possibility in future that it may enter the EU,which would probably mean property prices going up .its very cheap to live in Turkey and the people are very friendly but you have to remember it has a large Muslim population and therefore may seem very different from the UK .

in recent years, the uk and turkiye relations are getting better. the uk supports turkiye at most to make it a member of the eu.

the most tourists come to turkiye from england, germany and russia... but, the nationality of a tourist has no importance in turkiye! because turkish people are famous with their hospitality in the world. in recent years, some racist people who are jealous of our culture and country, want to show turks and turkiye as bad, as they are trained and educated and made believed that some turkish lands belong to them by racist people! they wanna make turkish ppl crazy and when turkish ppl give tough answers to them, they wanna show the world how though and how barbarian turks are. do not let them to deceive you;

come to turkiye and see yourself!

I think a lot depends on whether Turkey will join the EU or not and right now it doesn't really look like they will be allowed to... but then again they might...

If you want a good return on your investment I'd look at new EU states where property is still extremely cheap right now like the baltic states, Poland, czech republic and such...
