I met a woman at the end of December, got hooked straight away. On Valentines day she tells me there is somebody else, she met just before me and he's coming back, from where I don't know, she said she had to see him and resolve things.

I said ok I'm out. Since then she has got back to me suggesting she doesn't want our "thing", whatever it is, to end.
So I didn't see her for a month, the whole time I was thinking about her going to see this man. I did email her again to say I'm out, she emailed me back saying she missed me.

A couple of weeks ago I did call her up to ask her what the situation was, I felt like I was almost begging, she suggested it was none of my business, this greatly angered me. So the following week I wrote, maybe immaturely, to say what a waste of time it's been and what a fool I've been caring for her when she's been at her lowest ebb. She responded, very hurt, I apologised. We met for a drink, I'm still none the wiser, she seems very confused, what to do???

Seems like she's leading you on. She wants you but she wants this other person to. She can't make up her mind. She doesn't want you to find some-one else as she would be jealous and she don't want you to stop liking her because she greedy. If i was you i would keep well away unless you want to get hurt badly in the long term. My gosh its hailing hard byeeee

do not let her do this to you. stand up for yourself. Im sure you care thats not the point. If you dont stand up for yourself she will keep running over you. If you dont respect yourself she will not respect you.
back away from the situation and be strong, if she is confused you will end up getting hurt over and over as she goes back & forth.
she may not really be a bad person & may not mean to hurt you but she is and thats not fair. dont let her do this to you. back off and let her sort out whatever. if you guys get together later make sure she has everything sorted out and make sure she treats you with the respect you deserve
but dont wait on her
good luck
