The original teachings of Christ were excellent. It's the Christians of today who don't follow anything he taught.

No, it won't work.
That's because many people, including many, many religious people, have a tendency to interprete those well sounding rules to their own advantage.
For example. Who shall decide who broke the rules? You have to have some judge in place. The judge is above the system.
Others will interprete taxes as stealing from them and will refuse to pay them.
What about adultry? What if two consenting couples decide to have a foursome? Would you want to punish them?
But that's all nitty-gritty.
I am far more worried about the people who think the rules don't apply to them (because they're special, or in a special position), but do believe that they apply to others.
That is the problem with rules, not the rules themselves.

People reject what they don't understand, then they go on the attack. Also I think that extreme religions that try to force their beliefs down someones throat has damaged Christianity as a whole. Another point is "the Church" has done a lot to turn people against it. A lot of secrets and dirty dealings makes people distrust religion. It's a pitty really.
When someone attacks me about being Christian I always retort with.......If I believe in God and am wrong, what harm has it done.........but if you dont believe in God and you are wrong you will burn in hell for eternity, just a point to consider.
Even if you dont believe in God as taught by the Church, the world would be a better place if we all lived by the basic Christian principals, but this was never made to be a perfect world. We had that already, it was called Eden.

True, good ideas, but the religion concept is based upon lies and false promises.
I do not need a god to be able to comply with the basic common-sense rules for civilised life.
I do not need to live in fear of being cast into a non-existent hell or live in hope of being saved from all that and know that I will live forever in a pretend paradise - because it is all nonsense, all lies.
But the idea is such a good one that so many people WANT it to be true and have convinced themselves and their children that it is. Folly.
So those are the reasons why there is something wrong with christianity and ALL religions. They are all based on false assumptions.
Now, ask the more important question - what is wrong with the evil Islam? A much more serious issue.

because of fact this is not actually conceivable to get to appreciate each and every Christian (your occasion, not mine) interior the worldwide. So human beings base their critiques based on the exceptional ones, like the pastors who determine to sin. by using the way, in case you're under the misperception that this occurs in basic terms to Christians...that's a tragic, unhappy false impression. even although, you could merely determine this is all Adam and Eve's fault. They screwed up and then each and every person became kicked out of paradise.

Of course I agree with the ten commandments.
There's just one problem, the "thou shalt not bear false witness" Well, it seems that in order not to bear false witness, you must tell the truth, and people seem to have a problem when someone tells them the truth especially, here on Y!Answers.
They say if you can't say something nice, then say nothing at all. I have a problem with that too, there is such thing as lying by omission, I won't do that either.
I can't see allowing people to give false information about Christ and not say something to correct it. Regardless of how diplomatically put, someone will look at as an insult.

Unfortunately, thou shall not covet will destroy the American economy. Our current commercial enterprise relies on making people feel jealous that their friends, family and neighbors have things that they don't.
Honor your father and mother? Obviously not an abused child.
But I would say, in all fairness to your question, that the people who tend to claim to espouse these things the most tend to be the biggest hypocrits. Perhaps that is what is wrong with Christianity.

Yes i agree that the things you mentioned would make the world a better place.....BUT the christians just pretend to follow, you only have to look around on here to see that!!!Or they follow because they are scared of what their god will do if they don't!
But Wicca has all that too.....and people follow those common courtesies because they want to not because they are scared of a reprisal from an imaginary god!
Blessed Be)o(
Oh i forgot you asked what is wrong with christianity? EVERYTHING, and the things you mentioned are just the traits of a good person ...not a christian.

Here's some more FACTS about christians:
hell was created by christians - so shall they go there!
christians have KILLED more people in the history of humanity than any other group.
christians have persecuted millions of "non-believers" just because they DIDN'T believe in "christianity!
christians are by far the most brain-washed - brain-dead believers in the world today!
"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ
but.......... there's a solution, even for christians:
Create a private, personal, direct, divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!

I don't hate, but I do disagree with much of the religion. I think the best thing to do in the religion would be to stop running around telling people they're going to hell and having that, "I'm right, you're wrong," attitude. If you want to practice your religion, that's fine (and it would be nice if Christians followed all of those commandments.) I just don't want to have a high-pressure sales Christian insulting me, because I don't follow along.

Good ideas perhaps.... though highly impractical and difficult to maintain... not least for idiots with short attention spans and a tendency toward instinctual behaviour.
But what is wrong with christianity is hypocrisy.
It does not practice what it preaches.
Christianity since the offset has completely misunderstood the teachings of Jesus.... has tried to impose "love and understanding" on the masses by hatred and intolerance.... has tried to encourage people not to kill by itself killing those who opposed it. Even to this day it shoves itself in peoples faces and encourages the most ridiculous prejudices and intolerances under the guise of love and salvation.
What bugs some is that it does not practice it.... but what bugs me is that it preaches it at all. Its all well and good claiming we should be kind and loving to everyone and all that...... but it is inherantly opposed to nature. Conflict is the natural way... It is how the strong stay strong and how species evolve....
I am every bit as unpleasant as any christian zealot if I have to be.... but I am not lying to myself nor anyone else. I am an honest bastard, and that is what matters to me. The average christian claims to hold Jesus in reverence, but they can't see that they cannot follow his teachings at all.... being so bound by their instinctual drive to crush all competition and breed like flies. They are living a lie... and that is an abomination.
Christians are highly hypocritical.... see things as absolutes when all is relative.... and are generally thoroughly stupid individuals irrespective of what they are taught to say (and not to do)....
For that I cannot see any worth in them whatsoever.
