Yes everything that you can make on a PC can be read on a mac with the corresponding software - sometimes even if there is no Mac counterpart it can be opened - Preview can open a large numebr of formats adn even the basic Text Edit can open Word documents.

Actually - Only format I've ever had problems with on a Mac are Publisher files.

Yes, sort of. You can open Microsoft Office and other document files. You can't run Windows programs without some extra software to make it emulate Windows.

Download and install NeoOffice.

It Reads, Edits and Writes in most M$-Office file formats and it's free.

jpgs, and tiffs yes, Microsoft office products yes (word, excel, power point)....
