In ancient India coins of taxila also with the hollow cross but the period is 300 BC( before Crista )
Our ancient holy symbol "Swastika" used by Hitler on coins and his national flag,
What you say?
Akbar the great minted 'Ram seeta' coins in silver with their portraits.
Mahmoud issued coins with Sanskrit script with goddess Lakshmi.

This question can be hadled rather silly.
But my opinion is dont tell this point to congress govt. they will really go on to implement.
But the champions of secularism must think that India is the only country where profit is collected from Hindu temples; church and masjids are exempted from several things. We mean democratic in the sense that everyone is equal. Not that hindus should turn hostile towards other religion which is aggressive.

I think this was the thing you had in your mind when you asked the question.

According to the Reserve Bank of India, it is supposed to symbolize Unity through Diversity. It is NOT a Christian cross.
They may be withdrawn because the blind are having too much difficulty distinguishing them from 1 Rupee coins.
If you have a problem with it, why don't you contact the Reserve Bank of India? I find this argument rather silly.

Here is a link to a newspaper article on the subject:

There is the reasons in belows :-

(2). Congress party of India has forgotten the unity of India, Sonia Gandhi is being tring to secularism politices in india.
(3) As we are all country peoples (more or less) are given highlighted to the gandhi family
(4). It is amatter of regreate, after 60 yrs. of freedom in india,
we did not find all other freedom fighter leaders (any picture
in the rupee or coin) excpt Mahatma Gandhi & Indira Gandhi's
(5). It has been ignored our Indian flag in the new two rupee coin, which has been issued by Govt. of India or SONIA of INDIA.

It could be worse. It could have had a cow or camel on it. When you are close minded & only see your point of view. What is offensive to you may not be offensive with the majority. Like it or not that is how the world works. Most everything that gov'ts do is designed to satisfy the majority. As long as the majority is happy the long the gov't officals stay in office.

Secularism is to respect all religion. There is nothing wrong in using Christian symbol. If other countries do not use Hindu symbol, that means they are not secular. Why we should behave like that.

Good question. Secularism is under attack all over the world, so don't feel bad.
When religions, once again, begin to kill each other in bloody "belief wars", they will come crawling back, bloody and battered, to the secularism.
