Shari'ah is the comprehensive Muslim law derived from two sources: (a) the Quraan (2) the Sunnah or practices of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of God be upon him). It covers every aspect of daily individual and collective living. The purpose of Islaamic laws is to protect individual's basic human rights to include right to life, property, political and religious freedom and safeguarding the rights of women and minorities. The low crime rate in Muslim societies is due to the application of the Islaamic penal laws. These however can only be applied in a society which has established all other Islaamic laws to ensure justice and protection of each other's rights.

I've just finished reading a 3-volume history of the crusades which shows that Christians and Muslims, West and East, have been battling with each other for at least 1,500 years. I personally think we'd all be much better off if we found some common ground and learned to live with each other rather than try to conquer each other.

But to answer your question, as a non-Muslim (I'm an atheist) I have yet to hear or read anything good (in my estimation) about Sharia Law.

Muslims, please tell me how you feel about it.

Sharia is a perfect system today, despite i'm Muslim I'd say it can't be applied for the moment.. During the first eras of Islam, Muslims lived among other religions under the sharia jurisdiction in peace.. It is good for non Muslims as Muslims as it states "No Different between all Humans"...

We can't apply Sharia today though.. save iside of ourselves. Before we apply it we need to "Calrify" The thoughts that has invaded islam which is not actually part of it, Like Stoning, Killing The Murtad, and many things that were "implanted" by extremists and accumelated through eras.

We Need to reach for a settlement for those who can't find their food before we condemn them and apply the Sharia if they stole. We need to help youth to marry and facilitate this for them before we lash them for adultery.

Sharia needs a perfect Society to be applied therein, People used to come to Muhammad PBUH and say: "I stole, punish me please!" While now you can hire a few people to commit perjury for punishing an innocent... for 500 Years the area between KSA and Libya didn't witness one theft, because Sharia was applicable, this area was called "Dar Al Salam" "The Land of peace" as no crimes were committed there, despite it was full of bandits and desert criminals. When Ibn Battota got stolen there; it was as if you told the people "the sun came from the west".. no one believed that could happen in Dar Alsalam. Sharia is a perfect law.. But before we punish people, we must insure their social welfare first.

generally, to apply Sharia which is really peaceful, we have to get rid of the Muslim tyrant regimes, and give the chance to the Muslim people to show their real peaceful personality to the world...

You should rephrase the question.
Who knows what 'sharia' really is?
I'll give you a hint: It's not the wearing of veils and the cutting off of hands.
The Quran is not a lawbook. Some might interprete certain stories to hold certain rules, but it doesn't give any clear laws. It's not a lawbook and cannot be used as such.

If you want to understand the problem, replace 'sharia' with 'justice'. Now ask Western people if they think 'justice' is a good idea. 100% will say 'YES'.
Then ask them what they mean by 'justice' and you get 10000 different answers.
The same is the problem with sharia.
Muslims will overwhelmingly state it's a good idea.
But it's a concept, not a lawbook.

First of all, the Sharia laws are not Islamic. They are cultural laws, which makes a big difference. I think that there is no need for these laws, because we are supposed to follow the Quran. The Sharia laws aren't Quran laws so why should we follow them?
It's not good for non Muslims, because simply they aren't Muslims. In Islam, there is no compulsion in religion.

Yes but I wouldn't want to see it implmented anywhere where the majority is non muslims.

Many people see shariah law as stonning a women for adultery. This law however also applies to men. I could go on for ages just talking about this about how difficult it is to accuse anyone of adultery for example you need 4 witnesses who saw the act. If there are no witnesses the husband has to take an oath and then if the wife takes the same oath. All that happens is divorce no stonning.

I can go on forever if you want an answer just mail me your email address and I can go on for.

But for now I think it would save on costs for running prisions, it would lower crime rates as you can check on nation master .com for saudi arabia compared to the UK and US. And ensure we live in a just society.

Yes.
Shariah law, if it is implemented correctly, is the solution to the world's problems.
It is as relevant today, as it was 1400 years ago.

One of my friends is a Muslima, and....well, she pretty much rejects the Sharia. No veil, she drinks wine coolers, she tells her husband what to do, she goes wherever the heck she wants without his permission...
