Thank you all who are trying to answer this, I do appreciate your thoughts, moomooco are you trying to tell me that you think that your wife is a god or that she can be compared to one? What I'm trying to say isthat I cannot see how a person could believe that Jesus is God, The scriptures tell a different storyIm' not talking about the one I cited in the questionthere are quite some more: John10:36 ; Matthew3:16,17 ; Jon1:19 ; John14:28;John8:55 ; Matthew24:36 just a few to check out what I mean about the belief doesn't match the Bible teaching.curious I have checked out the Bible very well, and have found it to be very very accurate it is the beliefs that people choose that are inaccurate it is why checking into the Bible is very important, because according to John3:16 knowing accurate truth from the Bible is vital for our salvation!

also when Jesus died who raised him he couldn't raise himself if he was really dead God does not die God is immortal
Jesus himself said not only that he is God's son(John10:36) but also that God his Father is greater than him(John14:28) The Bible also says that nobody knows the day of the end or the hour not the angels not the son only the Father (God)(Matthew 24:36)If Jesus were God then surely he would know but the Bible says he doesn't know! a whole lot of discrepencies with that belief that people have of Jesus being God it is a different story in the Bible as far as I can see.

Jesus was massenger of God, I think this passage is incorrectedly translated to as "authority" it must have been something else.

This is what the verse means.

All power . . . me: the Greek word here translated power is the same as that found in the LXX translation of Daniel 7:13-14 where one "like a son of man" is given power and an everlasting kingdom by God. The risen Jesus here claims universal power, i.e., in heaven and on earth.

12 [19] Therefore: since universal power belongs to the risen Jesus (Matthew 28:18), he gives the eleven a mission that is universal. They are to make disciples of all nations. While all nations is understood by some scholars as referring only to all Gentiles, it is probable that it included the Jews as well. Baptizing them: baptism is the means of entrance into the community of the risen one, the Church. In the name of the Father . . . holy Spirit: this is perhaps the clearest expression in the New Testament of trinitarian belief. It may have been the baptismal formula of Matthew's church, but primarily it designates the effect of baptism, the union of the one baptized with the Father, Son, and holy Spirit.

Grace and peace!

Good question. Logical question. No one gives authority to God. But God gives authority to others. Moreover, we learn in Hebrews that Jesus learned obedience. Can we conceive of God learning obedience? Exactly whom would God obey?

Those who resort to the explanation that Jesus was held back in certain instances by his "human" nature overlook the fact that human nature cannot limit God. If Jesus were God and man at the same time, do we seriously believe that his human nature prevented him from being God - from doing things God does? From having God's authority? Is is reasonable to believe that God is in any way limited by man or human nature? Moreover, is it scriptural to believe such?

God IS the highest. And there IS none above him. Perhaps no other fact so clearly illustrates the wrongness of the teaching that Jesus is God as does the following: The scriptures make it plain that it is impossible for God to die. Nowhere do we read any so-called qualification that God can die in human form. Nowhere do we read: God cannot die, except when he becomes a man. It is simple: God cannot die. Period. Yet Jesus died.

It is explained in Philippians 2:5-11.

It says there that Jesus was equal with God, but that he gave up that position for a time to become a servant, and to be made into a man. In that position, he was obedient to God the Father even to the point of dying on the cross.

After that, he was returned to the position of equal with God the Father, so that it is Jesus that everyone must acknowledge is Lord, and to whom they must bow there knee.

During the time he was "on earth" in human form, Jesus laid aside his divine authority. Everything he did during that time, he did as a "human being". He used only the authority or power that regular humans have - prayer, fasting, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. He was not using his divine authority during that time.

After his resurrection, that authority was returned to him. It is that event that Jesus is speaking about in Matthew 28. Following his resurrection, he was given back his position as equal with God the Father.

Jesus is the son of God. Your right...he isn't God. He had the fullness of God in him. A good site to do more research on this is

Glad to see the truth is being revealed to more & more people. May God keep leading you to post these type of questions etc...If you need any other scripture explained you can email me...We have a pastor that is fluent in the ancient Greek language. God Bless!

Matthew 28:18
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (NIV)

Carefully reading a verse is the only way to begin to properly interpret it. In this case, it is clear that Christ’s authority was given to him. Many other scriptures say the same thing: “God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). God “placed” everything under his feet and “appointed” him to be Head of the Church (Eph. 1:22). If Christ were really God, and co-equal and co-eternal with the Father as the Trinitarians teach, then it is illogical to say Christ was given authority. God, by definition, has authority. The authority Jesus now has is delegated and derived, and is not a function of his “divine nature.” The wording of these scriptures is, in actuality, a refutation of the Trinity. Jesus is that man to whom God gave “all authority.”

Jesus Christ was not God, God Can not die, Jesus Christ did & rose again. can you imagine what satan would do in those 3 days if God was dead, he would never have allowed Jesus to raise again, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God did not even dwell in Jesus at all until Jesus was baptized, & When The Holy Ghost came down to Jesus without measure, Then God invested all his power into Jesus Christ, But after the Milleunnium, Jesus will once again deliver all power back over to his father,Because then everything will have been redeemed back to God, even this earth. Then Jesus come off the Throne in Jerusalem & then God's majestic glory will once again engulf this earth in the eternal age, & Jesus Christ then becomes our elder brother.

yes. God has all the authority. when God created the earth, He gave Adam the authority to subdue the earth and all thats in it (except God). after Adam sinned, satan took this authority over and become the 'prince of this world'. And satan's ultimate weapon against humans is death.
So when Jesus died and was resurrected, He defeated satan's ultimate weapon, death and took this authority over.
thats why its said that God gave Him the authority.
do note that God did not give the authority to satan, but rather, this authority was lost to satan by Adam, when he fell.

What's the whole point of salvation? Check this: God at the
beginning of time sets up laws, scientific laws, gravity,
etc. He also sets up a basic law of obedience: love God and
love your neighbor. Man broke these two laws (the core of
the Ten Commandments). All of us break these laws. God has
already said if you don't follow these laws you will be put
to death. But since He loves His creation, He doesn't want
to destroy them. He wants a way to save them. But how?
Sacrifice. Executing the consequence but on someone else.
But who could be worthy enough to be sacrified for billions
of people since the beginning of time? God. So He went to
earth, and died for the sins of man.

All He asks now is for you to accept that. That is
salvation. He doesn't want you to pull up a list of things
so you can be 'Christian'. He just wants you to accept that
He died for you and that your sins are forgiven when you ask
of it to be.

Now how about attitudes and following laws and
regulations and all this jazz. You have to see God as a
friend rather than a cop. Just for an example, if you
hang out with friends that smoke all the time, you are
influenced to do so yourself and might take up smoking.
In the same way, if you hang out with God and people that
believe in Him, you will be influenced to live that kind of
life. The change is progressive, and to some people
instant. But it all starts out with befriending God.

In a mysterious way God manifests Himself in three persons: as the Father/Creator, as Jesus the Man, and as the Holy Spirit, yet all being One. Each aspect of His nature operates separately, though cooperatively. Collectively they gave Jesus the voice to speak authoritatively about God the Father. Elsewhere Jesus makes it clear that He is, in fact, Himself God : "When you have seen me, you have seen the Father."
It is all as mind-blowing to us today as it must have been then.

God had all authority over man, when Jesus came and was judged for our sins, God gave Jesus all authority as far as the judgement of man is concerned. God still wants us to pray to him but always in Jesus name at the end to give Jesus the respect and Jesus the glory for all that he did for us on the cross. It by Jesus that we are even able to have contact with God, be it in prayer or in eternal life. All authority of man was given to the son of man/son of god ... the Godman who was sent for us.

Jesus was God but as a man and he lived on Earth, so of course he didn't have the authority.
