Check out www.hslda.com that is the homeschool legal defense association. They have all the info you need for each state and what is required. In my experience public school was the last place to start they gave ALOT of false info. The internet has tons of info. Just type in homeschool information or requirements in google. You will get more then enough info.

PA is generally a very friendly homeschooling state, but as in any homeschooling situation, your first call should always be to the child's school (if they are currently enrolled) or to the school district. They will tell you exactly what you need to do to begin homeschooling (usually there is a form or two to fill out and return to the district office) and what you will need to provide as a homeschooler (general guidelines as to what subjects need to be covered, how often you may be reviewed, etc.) I know from a friend that some schools system in PA allow homeschoolers to participate in certain extracurricular activities and may even reimburse for the cost of some instructional materials. Be sure to check into that. Once you take care of school district issues, be sure to start looking for local home school orginizations...yahoo groups is a good place to start. Again, the school may know of organized groups and you can always check local libraries, play centers, etc as they tend to be a gathering place for homeschoolers!

You should contact your local school department, and ask them what you need to do to be able to home-school your child. You can look at this site for more info:

Best of luck!
(PS. You could also google search your state, and check out the home-schooling guidelines.)

Go to school yourself and learn about it.Home schooling does not teach children how to deal with people in everyday life situations. You can tell them about other races, religions, sexual orientations etc... but actually learning from them you just can't teach.I think it's best to send your child to school and be as involved with it as much as you can and they will be a better person for it.
