We are family of 5, and plan to visit Bangkok in July. Kindly recommend some kids-friendly hotel in Bangkok in close proximity to shopping areas.
Ideal would be per day room rent in range of USD 30 to 50.
Or how about if we go for a two bedrooms serviced apartment ?

Please comment / advise.

Either would be fine. I have stayed at the Nana Plaza Hotel and it was fairly cheap and it's centrally located and it's not too bad. The downside is that it's next to a bar district.

I've never rented a serviced apartment, but like most places in Bangkok, they are fairly nice. Anything in downtown is centrally located and taking the sky train is very cheap to get you anywhere in the city. The cabs are cheap as well, but the traffic gets congested.

Try the following hotel. Samran Place, it is in the Pratunam area, the shopping area. Also near the Siam Centers which have an aquarium for the kids. I could not find a 2 BR apt for USD 50. If you got 2 rooms here it would run around USD 67 which is not bad. INSIST on adjoining rooms or connected rooms.

You can check the other hotels on this website. It's the best I have found for asia.

You can also look at www.thaiwebsites.com in the real estate section for serviced apartments. OR you can go to the individual realtors sites and inquire about a short term rental.

Good luck.

For this price range, the Federal Hotel just passed the German bar on Sukhumvit Soi 11 is the favourite for many and they have substantial repeat business. The pool there is okay - and the location is great.
The Nana Hotel discussed here is in deed across from one of the three main bar/red light districts - but still maybe okay. You probably ought to stay around Sukhumvit and close to a BTS Sky Train stop (the stop for the Federal is Nana).
For serviced apartments, I lived in the House by the Pond off Soi 22. But you have to get a taxi to get down to Sukhumvit and sometimes you have to wait. They have a web site. The place does not have especially comfortable furnishings, and the air conditioners are loud and outdated. Try to find a web site that goes over these serviced apts. up and down Sukhumvit and something might catch your eye.

Kid friendly hotels in Bangkok??? Well...I would suggest the Sukhothai or Sofitel, though they are a bit pricey. Cheap hotels are available in and around the Sukhumvit area or Prathunam area but the kind of "attractions' around are definitely not for a family with kids and you would inadvertantly end up exposing your children to something unpleasant. The Sukhumvit area however is where you might like to stay since shopping, transportation etc is much easier being the main tourist hub of Bangkok. I recommend the Hotel Tai-Pan, which is fairly decent.

I can recommend Novotel Lotus in Sukhumvit or Chaophaya Park in Rachadasepik. Both close to BTS/MRT stations and shopping districts. Century Park near Victory Monument is also good. Family friendly and clean. You will hardly see an instant couple of old farang and young Thai girl/boy. Room charge is slightly more than USD50. Check the location and price at hotel booking sites suggested by other answerers.

If you consider staying at serviced apartments, I do not recommend less expensive ones (say less than USD100 for 2 bedroom sa) as those s apartments are not for family holiday with kinds.

Hi O - I do not usually get involved in the hotel questions but the Nana Hotel is not what I would call kids friendly or a family hotel - it is the most popular hotel in the center of the red light district of bkk..

Thai people mostly love children, you should be fine in most places and there are many - check asiarooms.com - have a nice stay...

The Oriental. if you can afford a room there they will treat your children as if they were kings and queens. The Oriental hasnt been named the best hotel in the world by many publications for nothing.

Sofitel is also a nice hotel for about half the price, ok ....... more than half. if youre looking to spend $30 US a night, get ready to knock cockroaches off your chest at night.

visit the inn internet website straight away the place you ought to locate specials. baby friendly is not any longer the nicely-known because of the fact little ones can't go into on line casino, bars, golf equipment and numerous severe end eating places. Ones that have sturdy factors for toddlers are the Circus Circus Manor, Mandalay Bay, and Excalibur. yet what the toddlers can do is the pool. maximum have deleted the arcade because of a pair serioius risk-free practices subjects.
