There's still a 1% chance that you can get pregnant while on birth control pills. Antibiotics or other medications can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills even more, and so can missing any pills or taking it at different hours ever day. All that can be found in the pamphlet you get with each month's worth of pills.

The pill is good to protect you against pregnancy, but not STDs. If you aren't in a committed relationship, I'd advise against it.
