So many times I've met women that showed no real interest in me for weeks or even years. Those same women have made complete 180's after they saw me hugging another lady or maybe even just talking to other girls.
I'll practically offer myself on a platter and get no response; but as soon as it seems that I might get scooped upby someone else, here comes the flirting.
It's almost as if they don't want a man unless they are competing for him. What's up with that?

Don't take it personnally, women just are jealous of what other women have. Women dress for other women. When was the last time you noticed her hair, or makeup, or dress, or whatever.....we do that for other women to notice us, and the guy is a bonus to give us attractiveness.
You should be thankfull that that woman is around you, that she is not caught up with that bull s....t that other women would have her think she has to impress them.
Seriously, the guy is not who women dress for, its for other women to notice .....its our pecking order, not like yours in sports or who is stronger, or whatever.
You sound like a nice man and I hope this insight has given you discrecion into choosing who you would like to be with for the rest of your life. By the way, I'm faithfully married, but I know what women think when you asked that question.

they want what they cannot have but most the time chicks just wana compete and prove to eachother that they can get the guy and not the other.. i feel sorry for you guys sometimes coz in some cases the girl doesnt even want or like the guy but does it to just prove a point and move on.

I think its a competitive thing that stems from low self esteem. Deep down girls like that really have a low opinion of themselves whether it be externally, internally or both.
They feel if they can take a guys attention away from, cheat with him or steal him from another girl...it must mean she is better.
