Did you also know that some of us even try to follow the example of Christ?

I think that, despite what one might find in this forum, most people realize that the majority of Christians are not fundamentalists.
We live and work together every day, interacting on all levels. I can't recall one time when I was ever insulted (outside this forum) by a Christian, and I am an atheist. My family is the only one in town.
The vast majority of people are good, decent, work hard, and try to do their best for society regardless of their beliefs. In fact, unless we announce it, most people never know just what religion we are.
I've never known a bad Christian.
**In response to your added details--I understood what you meant. Don't be offended by what some people say.
You meant only that you practice, or at least try really hard to practice, unconditional love, tolerance, and acceptance.

Why is it wrong to say that you are trying to be like Christ? Why shouldn't you? I believe that's the example he was trying to set. If more people followed his example we wouldn't have the pain, anger and suffering that is seen on this board all the time.

Why yes, yes I did know that, thank heavens....I have several good friends I consider to be truly "Christ-ian" people, and enjoy them very much :) I have even had a mentally unstable fundie try to kill me for not wanting to join his church, but I don't allow that to color my perceptions of Christianity as a whole.
All you fundies please note: I am not saying that fundies are unstable. I am saying that the person in question was unstable, and looking at his religion through the eyes of someone who is mentally ill.

i'm glad to say that i am one of those who are not "fundamentalists"/
this does not mean i do not believe in the Word of GOD, but the term "fundamentalist" is used primarily for a group of "christians" ( there is a reason i use quotes around that word when talking about these people) who are hateful adn band together in protest of anyone who doesnt fit their standards.
Christ called us to Love, and to reach out to one another, and for the most part people who identify themselves as fundies dont live this way.

YES! In fact, I come specifically to this site to meet and laugh at the ones that are. Here in Europe such prime specimens are very hard to come by. Creationists are even rarer.

Where did you get that idea? A fundamentalist is someone who believes in the inerrancy of the Bible. Jesus frequently quoted from it. How can one be a Christian without also believing as He did?
