No, to my knowledge, that procedure does not exist. It would be great if it did. Smoking does physical damage to the lungs, actually altering the physiology of lung tissue... there's no way to clean that out, or people wouldn't be dying of respiratory diseases everyday.

Hello. Yes, there is actually a procedure where the lungs may be washed out. I have cystic fibrosis and I have had it done once to remove a bunch of mucus. I have never known that they would do this unless there was a major medical reason to do so. Anyway, it is called a Lung Lavage, also known as a "wash out". After they did mine, at first I was on oxygen but then after a few days my lungs were completely cleared out. They apparently put some special type of fluid into my lungs, while I was asleep of course, and then they sucked it up with the rest of the mucus and crap in my lungs. You can read a little more about it on the source listed below.

Washing Out Lungs

Your friend doesn't have any idea what s/he are talking about. There is absolutely NO WAY to clean the lungs out. There are medical procedures that use scopes to look into the lungs and to obtain necessary scrapings and washings for diagnostic purposes. However this does not "clean the lungs out" Our bodies do a good job of keeping the lungs clean through something called cilia... small hairs that grow in the airway that moved dirt, debris, mucous and such up and out... habits like smoking can kill the cilia and then we have no way to remove the bad stuff. The answer to your question is no there is no way to clean your lungs.

I haven't heard anything like that "they put some kind of liquid or chemical in the lungs and then sucked it out ." Lungs will collapse if something has entered to it like air or liquid, isn't it? And why victims of 9/11 didn't undergo such medical procedure.

Telll her this story and wait for her response. If she doesn't change her opinion and believe in God, the your friend has a problem. This universe didn't come from nothing. It was created and whatever you call him (we call him G-d, the lord, Alla'h, adoneih, etc, etc) he is the one who created the universe. There is a story about a believer who was invited for lunch to the house of a group of atheists. The believer went late to the invatation. When the atheists asked him why he was late, he replied, "I was coming on time but suddenly a river was created between your house and my house and I couldn't cross" So the atheists said, "and then how did you cross". The believer said " well, suddely all the sticks were gathered from the ground all together and a boat was made from those sticks so I got on the boat and I sailed to the other side of the river" One of the atheists jumped and shouted, "you are a lier, how can a river be suddely created and the sticks suddenly come together and form a boat, this just is not logical and makes no sense" Then the believer said to them "If you can't believe that a boat was formed from pieces of stick that were suddely gathered together, how can you believe that this whole universe was created suddenly by no creator????? This just is not logical and makes no sense" Salaam
