They would have to run to keep the wheel turning - otherwise they would fall and get caught in the spokes.

It would help in two different ways. It would provide a zero emission source of energy(though probably not very much, but some none the less). Also it would make the cars they drive more fuel efficient since they would be lighter. I recently read a study on how much gas was being used in America to move around the extra weight of obese people. I cant remember the exact numbers but they were surprisingly high.

Are you serious here or are you pulling one`s leg? if you are pulling one`s leg great idea but, not all Obese people can help the way they are.I thought sticky buns & stuff were banned from school lunch boxes these days & that two laps round the outer rim of a school playing field before breakfast was the in thing as it used to be in my day no matter what the weather was like,no run no breakfast.?

Probably that alone won't save the world from global warming, but it would be a positive contribution to reduce global warming and at the same time conserve world food supply, and be good for the obese people......ha ha ha......it's win win all the way !!!

Global warming cannot be prevented by human effort..... so no.... not at all.... It might be an inefficient means of energy generation though, and would be amusing to watch.
Then they already use hyperactive children in Africa to pump water...
