"Our Bible was written over a period of 400yrs 2000yrs ago would you agree? How then is it that the words in that Book speak of events happening in todays world? If it was not the spoken Word of God then what was it? How is it that prophesies written 2000yrs ago by Christians are happening today?"

since when you started feeling that bible's prophecy is coming true. This is concoctations. You delibertaely are trying to find something in bible and maniopulate it with, what's happening today. I habe tried to read revelation and found it too funny with what's happening currently in the world.

Age after age, people who have read that book looking for signs that the prophesies were true thought that it was speaking of their specific circumstances.

I can pretty much guarantee you that during the tumultuous 14th century people didn't read the bible and think "No, that's talking about some future date".

And yet, here we are, and the world is still spinning, and the seasons still change.

So...here's my question for you. Since it requires a NON-literal reading of scripture to get the idea that it's talking about today (because the prophesies are not specific enough to definitively mean any one thing), what gives you the impression that it's "speaking of events happening in todays (sic) world"?

Future generations will be just as certain that it's speaking about THEIR "today's world", by interpreting the stories to fit their circumstances.

That's why the Bible has all those references to recent major events in the world - 9/11, the 2004 tsunami, the Iraq war - it's all there.

It's not? Surely those BIG events would get a mention? What DOES it mention then? "There will be disease" - ah, well, there's always been disease. "There will be an increase in knowledge" - okay, but again, that's always been the case. Anything else? "Israel will return" - Got one! Yes, Israel reestablished in 1948. Did it mention that little detail about the Holocaust? No? That seems quite an oversight, wouldn't you say, for a book full of profound prophesy? Anything else?

You can find whatever you want in vague ramblings. Wilkie Collins wrote a novel in which one character found the answers to all life's problems by consulting the Robinson Crusoe.

the entire Bible was written over a much longer period - the OT goes back about 4000 years - only the NT is as young as 2000yrs - as for things being fullfilled today - ahhh I dont know about that - maybe, maybe not - I dont concern myself with that stuff too much - God will decide when the end is and I trust Him

The Bible was written over a 1600 year period with a 400 year silent period between the two Testaments. It is a GOD INSPIRED writing. We have the ability to read, study, and obey it even though we were not a part of it's writing. Have you accepted Christ as your personal Savior? I challenge you to do so.

To become a real Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament which is our Christian Guide. Have a great day!

They are not happening today, unless they are things that happen ALL the time (like war, disease, earthquakes). Even I could predict that those things will be happening 1,000 years down the road.
