In the south, why do Baptists, Pentecostals, and Charismatics feel that they are spiritually superior?

Why do they feel that they are some sort of elite group of Xian that no one can be like unless you attend their church, give tithes, etc. For example, Pentecostals and Charismatics believe that because they speak in tongues that they have something that other denominations do not have, claiming it is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Also, Baptists believe they have the monopoloy in Biblical understanding.

I think this is common in a lot of religious groups. Its a way of making them feel good about themselves, "my God's better than your God". It causes a lot of pain, division and hard feelings. I find it interesting that christianity seems to divide and divide and divide. I think their in fighting and inability to agree on so many things says a lot about the "God speaking" to them. If he does, why all the confusion?

Until you meet All the Baptists-Pentecostals-Charismatic you are make too general of a statement. I know many people in these so called groups that are nothing like your accusation.

I don't know where you got that idea. The Bible teaches us,"for all have sinned,and came short of the glory of God".
We are forgiven of sin by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross at Calvary. He paid the price for our forgiveness.

its just a matter of perception! I personally don"t think they are. others do bcoz of waht they see in them but a true christian called by GOd are the poor,weak etc.
