Hello everyone. I am using XP home edition SP2.

I need to know how to change the skin, such as the START button, etc, and change the color. Do any of you know to do that without requiring me to download skins off the Net?

You can try downloading a program called WindowBlinds, it's not freeware but it has a trial download. Try it and see if it will work for you.

If you're just talking about the default skin's skin color, which is blue, and you want to change it to the other two colors which are green or silver, here is how to do it:

Desktop rightclick > Properties > Appearance > Under Color Scheme. That's where you change the color.

Hope that helps.
