You either could need a higher dose or you could need a medication with both T4 and T3 in it. My advice though is to stay with the T4 right now, as ust maybe it will work ot OK. Most people feel best with the morning TSH around 1.0, so when you retest always test in the morning. Give your body at least 6 months with a level around 1.0. If you still have problems after that, you can think of switching to a T4/T3 med like Armour or Thyrolar.

As far as diet, reduce carbs as those that are hypo have a more difficult time processing them. Try to exercise at least 3-4 times a week.

The thyroid gland is positioned at the front of the throat, decrease than the Adam’s apple. It contains 2 lobes that lie on both area of the windpipe, joined in the front by ability of an isthmus. The thyroid gland secretes hormones to regulate many metabolic approaches, including strengthen and power expenditure. Hypothyroidism ability the thyroid gland is underactive and fails to secrete adequate hormones into the bloodstream. This motives the man’s metabolism to decelerate.

I had my thyroid removed 3+ years ago and am still not 100%. Turned out I also had sleep apnea, a condition where there is difficulty breathing while you sleep.

You may want to add T3 to your medication. Many people feel with hypothyroidism feel it helps them. Also there is Armour thyroid medication which is from dessicated pig thyroid it contains T3 in it. Your medication is T4, and from T4 your body can make T3, some people have trouble with this conversion.

I take strictly T4. I am kept slightly hyperactive because I had can, and I feel fatigued. So more thyroxine (T4) may not be the answer.

I agree it is a real struggle - i dont think i have ever felt right on thyroxine. I have been taking it for around 10 years and my dose has gradually gone up from 75mcg day to now 250mcg day. I dont really follow how i can continue to need more but still feel i dont have high enough levels.

People who have never had a thyroid problem dont understand - doctors just think its a simple take this and sort yourself out.

All i can advise is to go back to your doctor for more blood tests - perhaps you are also anaemic (which can go hand in hand with thyroid problems) which could account for tiredness. Dont give up - i'm still waiting for something to finally make me feel truly alive again also!!

Many patients who have underactive thyroids blame it for all their ills, and expect, when they are on the correct dose to feel like superman/woman.

This is frequently not what happens. You will need to look at other aspects of your lifestyle. If you are still overweight it means you need to diet and exercise vigorously, just the same as everybody else.

Being hefty and not exercising is a vicious circle it makes you sluggish, you do less and put on more weight! Exercise invigorates, you do not need more levothyroxine, you need to get off the couch!
